Pensione Bencistà is a 14th-century villa set in the hills above Florence and surrounded by characteristic Tuscan olive groves. The terrace offers panoramic views over the city. The view of the hotel is breathtaking, overlooking Florence and the dome. It as several terraces where you can sit and enjoy the view while getting served tasteful drinks or excellent coffee. We had a basic room, the view was to the west to at the side of the hotel, overlooking not Florence but the hills around with all its cypresses. The bed was VERY comfortable and during the night you hear nothing but chirping of the crickets. Visit Florence: we left the car at the hotel because we didn't want any stress with the Parkin gin the crowded city. So we just took the bus 300m away from the hotel to go down. It takes about 30mins to go to the heart of the city. The tickets are 1,5€ each way. You can buy them at the hotel reception. I would 100% recommend this hotel!

Especially the door man and the receptionist from Croatia! He made the check in process very easy, and kept on asking if we need anything. The place is just beautiful that we cancelled so many places we had to see in Florence just to stay and enjoy the hotel. I wish I could return to this place with someone one day ;)

Fiesole's cozy Apartment is located in Fiesole. The air-conditioned accommodations is 27 mi from Pistoia. This was the most comfortable, lovingly prepared, equipped, welcoming and immaculately clean apartment in which I have ever stayed. We really loved it and cannot recommend it highly enough.Alessandro met and showed us in and was fervent in his availability to assist should we need him. There was a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, ice blocks,a commodious bathroom with bidet and WC and washing machine and generous well lit shower stall. The bed was wonderfully soft and we had perfect rest.Attractive antique furniture and gleaming rust tiled floors, good ventilation and central position with a supermarket 10 steps away at the end of the street finished the picture.Stay here if you possibly can.Alessandro will help you with finding a public car park if you have a car or the number 7 bus from the nearby town square connects you to Florence in about 30 minutes for 1.5 euros.

it was a great place to stay to visit the local area, Florence and Pisa but you need a car, we stayed for 5 days and tried a different restaurant every day including the hotel and did not have one bad meal, the food locally is great. We visited Fiesole. You can get to Florence by train in 12 minutes from Fiesole-Caldine and drove to Pisa in just over an hour.
Small hilltop town that has very easy access to Florence. Though not many restaurants in town, we had excellent meals at Vinandro and down the hill at Piatte e Fagotti. If you have a car, this is THE place to stay. Has terrific history. Stay at the Residence Fiesole to make the experience even better...private parking, safe with gated entry/exit. Terrific spot all around.
Wonderful little village situated in the Northern hillside just outside of Florence, with beautiful views over the city. The village has a mixed architecture of old and modern houses, villas, compound buildings where a monastery, restaurant and accommodation would be connected. Several high clock- towers decorate the skies. A few small-holdings with small farm activity and contributes to a farm-like atmosphere. And of course the famous narrow roads daunting through the town. A very warm, hospitable and friendly vibe in the air. Just to stay in this village for a few days would give you a wonderful relaxed holiday and you can visit Florence at your own leisure! All-in-all a wonderful town and a real Italian experience!
Fiesole has several really good restaurants and a delicious gelato shop. There is also a very nice view point by a convent where you can see all the red rooftops of Florence. It's a convenient place to stay if you want to visit Florence in the daytime but don't want to actually stay there. There is apparently an archaeological site as well, although we didn't have time to visit it. Lots of history here--it's even older than Florence!
Fiesole is an old town in the hills above Florence. As such, it has some very narrow streets that are difficult to drive on. You need to know where you are going and not get lost! So, a GPS is a must for driving. The town has made a effort to adapt to modern life with good free parking a short walk from the center. It has good bus service to Florence, about 30-40 minutes away. It is a good place to stay while visiting Florence, with the above caveats.
Fiesole as a place is just like a countryside in Britain with very good view and the air you will breathe is so fresh. You will be amazed. Restaurant "India" near Hotel Villa Aurora is amazing. Best ever Indian food tasted in Europe.
