BelgiumWe absolutely loved the hotel, the location, the architecture and the interior design. It felt like being in an old Italian movie, it was very charming. The room was a good size, we enjoyed having the balcony and terrace with sea view. There are plenty of toiletries provided as well as slippers. The air conditioning worked very well. The room also has a fridge. Furthermore, the food is fantastic. We enjoyed the breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff are very helpful and friendly and always greeted us with a smile. When we asked for extra toilet rolls or an ironing board, we received it within minutes. The hotel itself is beautiful and you can comfortably enjoy the pool and beach which are both very close by. We also parked (for free) on site and never struggled to find a spot, even with several weddings going on! We had a fantastic stay!

I enjoy the neighborhood especially the beach and the outdoor movie theater, lots of cats in the area I made friends with one after giving them treats. Also the via Rialto is nice there’s a mall nearby as well. Pro tip download the cotral app and signup since they do not take cash unless if you want to take a 30 minute walk to the mall. Also buy groceries for at least for breakfast and dinner since some of the rooms have stoves.

We loved being in Formia as it’s off the beaten path a...
We loved being in Formia as it’s off the beaten path a little. Some of our group were visiting Italy for the first time, so we used it as a base to visit Rome, Pompeii, Naples and more. Trains were absolutely brilliant- regular, cheap and fast. We would love to come back to spend more time on the coastline around Formia itself- what we saw of the surroundings was so pretty, the town was bustling, and the beaches looked stunning.

Formia is a great place to visit, it has it all, beaches, restaurants, bars and lots and lots of history. Cisternone Romano Is a must see and only takes about 30 minutes, there are many Roman ruins and artefacts to see. The local wine shops are great and you can get fresh wine by the litre for less than €2!
Olives and buffalo mozzarella are the best in the area and on sale everywhere (Itri and Gaeta make the best) the beaches are great and most have a lido bar and facilities costing around €15 to €25 for umbrella and 2 loungers for the day.

Great place to get the ferry to Ventotene and islands or if you want to go the beaches between there and Gaeta. Also a good stop off en route to anywhere along the coast between Rome and Naples as you also have the train station. Something about the back streets and where we went for a really authentic tasty meal( very popular with locals) had the spirit of Naples.

We liked the hotel, even though there were a few times when our room wasn’t cleaned thoroughly enough: they made the bed and took out the trash, but didn’t mop the floor, for example. It’s a 2-minute walk to the sea, and the beach is great: sandy, with a gentle slope into the water—a wonderful choice for kids. Classic Italian breakfasts: lots of pastries, but only one hot dish each day and no vegetables. The dinners are delightful, varied, and delicious!

We were very happy with the spacious, one bedroom apartment, which is, literally 100 steps from the beach. We were only sorry that our stay was so short, only 3 nights. The apartment is very clean and well-equipped, in a very quiet location, but there are cafes and restaurants close by, and Formia is a short drive. A big thank you to Stefano who was extremely kind and helpful.

It was our 5th trip to Italy, and that one was totally marvellous. The place, the host, the region, the sea, the food (fish market, fast food, pizzerias, restaurants), the nature - everything was higher than we expected. We highly recommend ths place. And yes - gelateria Lavezzi in Formia - is the place where we tasted the best ice cream in the world.

The position was good in the centre of Formia.
Air conditioning helpful as hot and noisy with windows open and I was grateful for the mosquito mesh on the windows!
