The venue is beyond beautiful, the breakfast delicious and it’s close to many great restaurants while being only 15 minutes away from the beach.

If you visit the two museums in Grosseto (checking opening times) and walk round the city walls, you could probably fill a day here. Otherwise, Grosseto is a good base for visiting places in this part of Tuscany. I didn't run out of things to see and do.

The city centre is lovely, less grandious and definitely more humble than more famous neighbouring cities, but it has character!
The Medicean walls surrounding the centre are the best attraction for sure.
Unfortunately the urban design and streamlined roads makes not very easy to navigate outside the city centre. And watch out your car wheels and suspensions, roads are in precarious conditions generally!
Maremma is lovely, get in the coutryside, go and visit a vineyard, twisting roads on rolling hills makes the experience unique.

Grosseto is not directly by the sea but has a very pretty...
Grosseto is not directly by the sea but has a very pretty and lively historic centre, with a few very good restaurants and ice cream shops, which makes it a good base for exploring the region.
It is easily reachable by train. Getting around is possible by bus but requires some planning, as regional buses are few in a day (use the local auto buses app, AT Autolinee Toscane).
Nearby must see include Alberese nature reserve (Maremma) and Castiglione della Pescaia. The closest beach is Marina di Grosseto. Another option is to take the train to Follonica (nearby town by the sea).
Best ice cream: Le Bontà (next to the BnB), Essenza and Mimi e Coco.

We chose Grosseto as a starting point to visit few places in Toscana by car. For this purpose, city was ok.
Grossetto itself inside the walls of the old town is ok, Piazza Dante deserves a visit. Not so much to do but ok, especially for the restaurants nearby (we have been at:
Il Melograno - tasty
Il Tagliapasta Grosseto - awesome
Locanda de' Medici Grosseto - awesome).
Just outside the old town walls, Grosseto is a quite neglegted and unkept city, which is a real pity.

Grosseto is a beautiful walled city.
Grosseto is a beautiful walled city. You get a real feel for local life there. And there are many great places to wander and get food and wine. I especially loved walking around the city walls, and looking at the variety of architecture. It's also a perfect base for exploring the maremma national park nearby. Which I highly recommend if you love nature. We enjoyed exploring the supermarkets too, and buying local produce to cook meals. And tried the local chianti too. Super.

The old town in Grosseto had some charm, but on a Sunday...
The old town in Grosseto had some charm, but on a Sunday there were no people and everything was closed. They were all at the beach. The rest of the city was not so much to see. So stay a night passing through the area, and choose other days than Sundays.

What a great find - we loved the idea of staying at an agriturismo, but had almost given up on the idea as most we looked at wouldn't be accessible without a car...and then we found Razza del Casalone, very walkable into Grosseto itself, also with a large supermarket 10mins walk away. Having a swimming pool was a lovely bonus too, swam every day and enjoyed the beautiful relaxing grounds. Highly recommend, and would happily stay here again if we come back to the area. Grazie mille Diana, Claudia and team, we loved our stay!

Great place, located perfectly. Irene met us in the middle of the night and then provided us with all the support we needed. The territory is vast, the pool is great and clean, and it has everything to enjoy time there. Specifically, I want to mention beds and pillows. They were great for us, ensuring that we had a great rest after intensive days. Thank you very much for the best vacation we've had so far in Tuscany. We will come back.

We booked a suite which was a good size with dressing area.
Plenty of car parking. Staff very pleasant. The team managed to arrange some laundry to be done for us at the last minute.
Worth the short walk into town for some cafes and restaurants. Although Christals on the corner was nice. Good hotel and would recommend.
