Locanda Re Ruggero is set opposite the cathedral in the historic center of Monreale, a picturesque town on the slopes of Mount Caputo. The air-conditioned rooms all feature free Wi-Fi. Giulia was extremely tentative, she provided a kettle for us immediately when requested. Excellent bed, clean every day, lovely breakfast with Tony at Saviao, I grew up in Monreale Sicily and I loved every minute of it. Hope to come back next year
Set in Monreale, 0.7 mi from Duomo di Monreale, Al Balhara Resort & Spa features a restaurant and views of the garden. Everything was amazing! The hotel is located in Monreale with lush gardens, beautiful palm trees and other plants and a giant pool with a very friendly lifeguard, water exercises, great DJ jamming. The rooms are super clean and the courtyard is aesthetically stunning. The receptionist Francesca was very polite and accommodating with our requests and the owner is a very kind gentleman literally asking every guest about their stay making sure they all have a fabulous experience. Very highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a unique and luxurious stay in Palermo.

Just 1000 ft from Monreale Cathedral, Palazzo Ducale Suites is a characteristic 19th-century building in the historic center. Breakfast is served on the terrace, which is covered in winter. The Palazzo Ducale Suites is conveniently located, a few minutes walk from the cathedral. The room was clean and comfortable with a good bathroom. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good. The hotel was able to book us a taxi to the airport which was much easier and quicker than going by public transport. It is a pleasant small town, and much quieter than Palermo which is only nine kilometres away and accessible by bus.
Offering a terrace, Casa Lilla is located in the center of Monreale. A sweet and savory continental breakfast is provided daily, and WiFi is free throughout. The owners were very helpful and nice. The B&B was close to the cathedral. The breakfast was very good.
Set 10 minutes' walk from the historical center of Monreale, B&B Al Giardino offers rustic or elegant rooms set in a traditional Sicilian countryside villa. The stay was amazing. Many thanks to the owners of the property for their hospitality and warmth. They allowed us to stay longer already after checking out and use the pool which was extremely nice. The whole property is beautiful. Wonderfully maintained garden, large pool with comfortable loungers. The rooms are tastefully decorated with attention to detail, the beautiful wooden furniture is very impressive. The breakfast was also very tasty along with great coffee. Worth having a car though. Parking is easy on the property but it is a steep climb to Monreale. For us it was not a problem because we like to walk, but the owner offered a lift which was also very nice. To the centre of Palermo the journey by car is 20 minutes so without any problem we also visited the beautiful capital of Sicily. I would highly recommend this flat for a stay in the area

Centrally located in Monreale, Affittacamere Duomo Monreale is only 492 feet from the city’s cathedral. It offers stylish rooms with free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a flat-screen TV. My girlfriend and me arrived from Palermo airport and we slept there for the night. The room was simply perfect and everything was amazing! Extremely clean and the view you have from the terrace is something difficult to forget for the rest of your life. All the building is new and the bed really comfortable. The host is really friendly and gave us a lot of good advises. We hope to come back soonest!
Set in the Conca d'Oro Valley, Rocca Di Monreale is at the foot of Monreale, 4.3 mi outside Palermo along the Corso Calatafimi road. Manuela was very hospitable and helpful, accommodating and friendly. It's a family run place, great breakfasts, friendly and helpful staff, Clean, great views and facilities. Can't recommend enough. We will definitely stay here again.
Although you can get in the cathedral free to see the mosaics, I would suggest you get the inclusive tickets (€12) to see the Cloister, the Cathedral, the Sanctuary and get up to the roof for a fantastic view of the Cloister and the town.
For us the cathedral was the centrepiece, why we were there, and the 12th century mosaics were stunning. We also enjoyed seeing the cathedral packed with young, local families, after hundreds of years still a centre for the local community
The Duomo both inside and outside is spectacular. The small town itself is very picturesque as well, with some great little restaurants (e.g. Pepers and pizzeria Antica de Guillermo opposite the main entrance to the Duomo) and beautiful views of Palermo in the distance. It's a good place to stay as you avoid the pain of driving in the busy centre of Palermo. You can leave the car in Monreale and take a 20-minute bus ride into the centre for €1,40 one way. You get the bus tickets from any tobacconist.
The cathedral is breath-taking and worth a trip unto itself, but Monreale is also an ideal staging point for trips into nearby Palermo. We had great food and sight-seeing within Monreale itself and took advantage of a good bus system to spend a day in Palermo. It was easy to do and we enjoyed everything we did here.
In some ways, a typical Sicilian hill-town, with narrow streets, pavement-cafes, etc. But it has an amazing 12th-century cathedral, internationally famous for its mosaics. In the day-time there are plenty of tourists. In the evenings - especially at the week-end - it belongs to the people, with families strolling together, meeting friends and calling in for food and drink at the local eateries.
The tourist area around the Cathedral and old town are great. There are lots of nice little cafes and restaurants, including Osteria Pepers', and the views and antiquities are spectacular. A climb up to the top of the cathedral is well worth the effort. Monreale is on a hill so getting to and from is quite steep although, once there, the main area is quite flat. We just hope that the new tourist tax will go towards cleaning up some of the wider areas of the town.
