Everything was perfect! Clean, comfortable and affordable. Perfect location for Montepulciano! We used this area as our base and visited all the surrounding towns in Tuscany and Umbria. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. Breakfast delicious! Free parking. Free Wi-Fi! Wonderful pool to relax in if you want some R and R from traveling. I was able to do laundry, a huge plus for me as we had been traveling for two weeks through out Italy.
We loved Montepulciano! it was beautiful – classic Tuscany Hill town! Great restaurants, shops and restaurants. We found everyone there quite friendly, and the food was fabulous. It was an excellent base to explore Tuscany by car.
Montepulciano is a hill town, and the streets will remind you of that. It deserves a few days to explore on foot and it would be best to stay two or three nights. Parking, and driving, is a challenge. Touring the area before and after your stay might be a better option than day trips from town. A couple of days here would be a highlight of any trip to Italy.
Montepulciano is in the Val d’Orcia, offering beautiful scenery and works well as a centre for day trips to nearby towns, which we actually found more interesting than Montepulciano itself. It is perfect for those interested in buying or learning more about wine and vineyards; it is, after all, the centre for some very famous Italian wines. A great stopover, with many restaurants at various price levels.
Do NOT walk into town for dinner if you'll be returning after dark. Take your car. If you do walk, know that you'll be walking along a very busy road, with no sidewalk and no shoulder. The final 1/2 mile is along a pitch dark gravel road full of potholes - good luck if you didn't bring a flashlight! Other reviewers, and the management, will tell you its only a ten minute walk to town. That's technically true, but that gets you to the very edge of town. You won't find restaurants or the things you came to see until you're about twenty minutes in. Be sure not to stop walking up, up, up the streets until you get to the plaza at the very top - you'll be glad you went all the way. The view is stunning, especially if you catch the sunset. The property is very very lovely. Good full breakfast, and bonus dogs to play fetch with. Staff is very nice. Pool is beautiful but unheated.
absolutely stunning. This is the Tuscany you read about/ The views were stunning. Very lengthy up and down streets. This village would not be for anyone with physical limitations. Ricci wine cellar tour a must!!
Breakfast had fresh made pastries and breads; cheese and salami, and fresh fruit; there was a variety of fresh fruit juice to choose from, milk, tea, and coffee--all ENTHUSIASTICALLY served by our host Nicolo bellisimo!! The hotel was so clean and so was our room. I especially loved the crisp white sheets on the bed! The family run hotel all participated in making us to feel welcome. Great restaurant 50 meters away that the host recommended. The old town of Montepulciano is only about a 10 minute drive from this hotel.
Montepulciano
Our apartment was very comfortable. The set up was lovely with a king size bed in a beautiful arched room. The workmanship of the doors and windows was notable. The view of Montepulciano from our garden table couldn’t have been nicer. Andrea and his staff have created an oasis. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious and were served in a beautiful setting. Andrea provided free shuttle service to Montepulciano, which is the icing on the cake. We hope to return someday. soon.
Montepulciano
One of the most beautiful accommodations I’ve ever been to. The location is incredible with views of Montepulciano, best enjoyed from the hot tub in the yard :) The room was super spacious, nice touches all over, nothing to complain about. Definitely take advantage of the winery tour included in the price of the stay, it was great. All of the staff were nice, welcoming and very helpful. I will absolutely come back to Salchetto.

This hotel is in fantastic location to visit Montepulciano and is great value for money. The room was a decent size with a private bathroom and free parking was available which was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. Breakfast was available although we didn’t take up this offer.
