It was no mistake choosing this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised by what we encountered from the moment we arrived. Walking into the hotel’s grand foyer, you immediately know you’re in good hands. The space is beautifully decorated — classy and elegant throughout. As you walk in, the reception desk is right in front of you, and to your left is a cozy seating area offering coffee and tea in the morning and a lovely bar serving cocktails in the evening. A staircase leads up to the second floor, where you’ll find the conference rooms, restrooms, and more. Walking into our suite felt like coming home — there was nothing to do but relax. The living area is lovely and well-equipped with everything you need, including an espresso machine, complimentary water, and a mini bar. From the living area, the bathroom is just to the left, with a great shower space. A nice touch is that the WC is separated by a frosted glass door for added privacy. The bedroom is spacious, with plenty of closet space and a comfortable king-size bed — sleeping wasn’t an issue at all. One of the most noteworthy details was how friendly the staff were. We were greeted with a smile by Sofia, and later met Luca and Giovanni, who were on hand to help in any way possible. We also had the pleasure of meeting Luca Bibolini, General Director of the group’s three properties — the Aemilia and Fiera in Bologna, and the Mantegna here in Padova — as well as the hotel’s General Manager, Jacopo. Both gentlemen clearly strive for excellence across their hotels, and it shows in every detail of the guest experience. I look forward to returning to the Savhotel Mantegna. Its location is ideal, and it’s perfectly situated for anyone wanting to rest easy and enjoy the comfort they deserve. Tony K Irving

FAQs about hotels in Padova

Academic and Artistic Greatness

An artistic gem, Padua (or Padova in Italian) seamlessly combines awe-inspiring heritage and a modern vibe. Counting Galileo among its former tutors, the University has the world’s oldest UNESCO World Heritage-listed botanical garden.

Across the road is huge Prato della Valle, a green square with a canal lined by 78 statues, and home to a Saturday market. A market is also held in squares near to Palazzo della Ragione whose multi-levelled arches and vaulted wooden ceiling are an impressive sight. Cobbled, porticoed streets lead to the finely-crafted Gran Loggia and clock tower.

Every church has incredible décor, but the most famous is Saint Anthony of Padua, boasting the bones of the saint, an impressive 7 cupolas and 4 cloisters. The square in front has a statue by Donatello. Padua Cathedral's simple exterior houses amazing frescoes inside the baptistery by Giotto, creator of the jewel in Padua’s crown – the Scrovegni Chapel. His 14th century frescoes there have been meticulously restored to be as vibrant as the day they were painted.

The closest airport is Venice Marco Polo, but before you head there from your Padua hotel, apartment or B&B take time to enjoy the narrow streets around Palazzo del Bò or the Jewish district.

I returned to Padova after a brief stop a year ago when we had time to only really see St. Anthony's Basilica. This time I came prepared and had two visits scheduled beforehand and some additional highlights i wanted to see. The Scrovegni Chapel with Giotto frescoes is a gem for everybody interested in history of painting, for the features of these frescoes and Giotto’s influence on renaissance painters. I really enjoyed the guided visit of Padova University, the early 20th century part is superb for the design as well as the political context as is the historic part with the anatomical theatre and its meaning for the development of science. Our guide was amazing. then some other gems, like - Pallazo del Ragione - the beautiful hall and food stands on the ground level - Botanical Garden - Caffe Pedrocchi with it's history and open door

Slightly off the usual main tourist route but lovely squares and buildings. Pleasant pedestrian area with bars and restaurants - all very civilised, no crwods, loud music, nightclubs etc. Good base too for visiting the wider area, including Venice, Choggia and Vicenza.

Padova is a lovely city with some incredible buildings. St Anthony's Basilica is a huge and inspiring church and, if you don't like this Basilica - there's another one right around the corner. The City has a large, impressive elliptical plaza and some smart shopping streets. The Giotta murals in the Scrovegni Chapel are superb.

Location is good if you need to be close of the Padova Central Station, it is not so close to the city center but close enough in a reasonable waking distance. There is a plus which is the terrace view, you can sit there and enjoy a beer, coffee and sunbath if you like. There is also parking spots available at the hotel which was good.

Great staff, great location especially if you are needing to board the bus from Padova ( Bus stop is opposite the Hotel). Nice bed for a night, small bathroom but it works. I was a solo traveller so lots of space in the room, but unsure for more than a couple. Not too far from the main station too, a brief 7 mins walk.
