We were in San Quirico d'Orcia in the first week of October. It was very very quiet place. Not sure if it was just after the season but if you looking for a good and very quiet spot it looks like this is a place for you.
San Quirico dʼOrcia is an attractive Tuscan village, with a good ambience, one or two attractions, a wide range of cafes and restaurants and a good supermarket. It is well situated for easy access to several other larger and even more attractive places nearby - notably Pienza, Montelcino and Montepulciano. Also, just a few minutes to the south is Bagno Vignoni, with a large thermal bath at its centre; and multiple restaurants and two hotels clustered around it.
It’s the perfect stop and driving distance from both Florence and Rome and yet puts you at the Slow Tuscan pace that you need to make all other day trips / wine tours / bike tours / hikes / pilgrimages you need. It is a small and well kept township. Must visit as Montalcino / Pienza / Bagno Vignoni/ / Montepulciano / all are 1 to max 2hours away.
Cute town with lots of cafe's and restaurants. Not much shopping in the old town. Very walkable but I would not ride a bike here...too much traffic and the cars drive too fast. We stayed in San Quirico to go wine tasting at Casanova di Neri and Banfi in Montalcino, which is about ten minutes away. Driving to all the little towns in Tuscany is somewhat challenging, but you must have a car to visit here, because all the towns are very spread out. It is very curvy and hilly and the roads are tiny so a town that is only 10 miles away can take 30-40 minutes to get too. Visiting Tuscany was the best part of our visit to Italy. We also went to Florence and Rome which were so crowded, I felt like I was at Disney World during spring break!
your typical tuscany landscape which are nothing short than amazing. the food in the area was typical toscan food which was.. well you get it. there’s a restaurant with a famous view just outside the city. their food is worth a detour
This is a quaint medieval Tuscan village with a very comfortable, laid-back and enjoyable atmosphere. It was a great central location to visit many other adjacent historic towns. It’s vistas were so picturesque- competing with the best Italian post cards or guide books you can imagine. We will definitely be back.
San Quirico dʼOrcia
The hostess was very nice and helpful. Parking is only available outside the town center but it was a short walk and it was possible to drive up to the hotel to unload luggage. Kitchen is easily accessible just outside of the room and one can put things in the fridge, make coffee or tea at any time. Coffee, tea and some baked goods are available all day. For dinner, the hostess directed us to a restaurant in town where her guests get a 10% discount. It was an excellent an lovely place and we went there both nights we stayed in town.
Unbelievable stay! The hotel, breakfast and location were incredible. San Quirico was so charming!! I would come back and stay in a heart beat. Room was very spacious and quiet. Breakfast was a very generous spread of food and service was impeccable. You can drive right up to the hotel. The entrance to San Quirico looks like a bridge for no cars, but cars go through the arch! Excellent value for the level of accommodation. Book now!
San Quirico dʼOrcia
This is an excellent, well run hotel. Both the hotel and swimming pool have a superb panoranic view over the southern Tuscan hills. Swimming pool and its surrounds are excellent - well maintained. Apartments are comfortable, though somewhat old fashioned. Staff are efficient and helpful. Adjacent restaurant offers a good Tuscan menu, food is well cooked and served, value is excellent and the views from the terrace are wonderful.
San Quirico dʼOrcia
This was a wonderful location with excellent accommodations and one of the friendliest hosts, Fabiano, that we have encountered in all of Italy. It was a picturesque Tuscan countryside “agriturismo” with the apartment possessing all of the amenities you would hope for. The decor was very tastefully done. It was only 3-5 minutes outside of town. It was a working olive grove with a number of breathtaking hikes in every direction.
San Quirico dʼOrcia
Excellent breakfast. Comfortable room for our family of 4. Excellent service from the hotel staff. We checked in rather late, as we had lost our way. The gentleman at the reception (same name as my hubby, Stefano :) was very gracious and helpful. He managed to secure a dinner table for us at a restaurant nearby and showed us personally to our room, located in another building a couple of blocks away.
LOVED the pool. I've never seen such a deep swimming pool in a hotel. Excellent for relaxation and swimming. The breakfast was good too, for Italian standards. The hotel is within a short walking distance from the city centre, which was handy. The room was cosy and we wish we could have stayed longer.
A very basic hotel beside a gas station, but with excellent position within Val d'Orcia. Think it would be suitable for people on a road trip who would like to stay for few days in a famous Val d'Orcia, but don't want to pay an excessive price for that. Room was basic but very clean...
San Quirico dʼOrcia
Perfect location, lovely and extremely helpful host, beautiful flat and stunning location. The walk to Begano Vignoni along the dirtpath through the hills of Val D`Orcia was one of the most beautiful we have done in Italy!
Very professional staff and old style hospitality. The bar was lovely, the breakfast was excellent. The room was comfortable and the shower was divine. Among the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in.
