Hotel is like a work of art, you can get lost in it. The experience from check in to check out was amazing staff is speaking English which is a huge plus if you have any questions. Room was huge with big balcony which had an amazing view of Beppu. I did book private onsen which was amazing experience. They did think of all the small details.

The hotel is really close to the train station, a 1-min-walk. The room was very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed being welcome to leave our luggage before checking in. This gave us the time to visit the 7 hells of Beppu the same day. In addition the staff was really accommodating. A definite plus is the onsen in the hotel. After a long day a quick soak is highly enjoyed. In the lobby you can pick a pillow to your liking and several cosmetics (face masks, hair treatments, etc.) for your own spa moment.

If you want to really feel like you are within an "onsen...

If you want to really feel like you are within an "onsen town", this could be the best in all of Japan. The view from the castle has you looking out over countless steam stacks, each indicating a spot with an onsen. Natural hot water flows through all of the city's drainage. Everyone seems to be relaxed and moving just a little more slowly. The whole city smells like an onsen right when you leave the train. It is a surreal city to be in and definitely worth visiting if you are spending any amount of time in Kyushu. The best onsen is "Hyotan Onsen", it is near the "7 Hells" and is something I will remember for my whole life!

Beppu has a lot to offer.

Beppu has a lot to offer. Our highlight was Takasakiyama Natural Zoological Garden. Watch about 900 Japanese macaques roam freely and interact with one another. They come down from the mountain, and you are in immediate proximity with them. A very ethical 'zoo'. We spent 2.5 hours there in amazement. It is set in a beautiful environment.

We loved three destinations in Beppu - Firstly, 'The Hells'...

We loved three destinations in Beppu - Firstly, 'The Hells' - 7 natural hot springs bubbling out of the Earth - in different, natural colours, depending on the mineral content! Spectacular! Secondly, the Kunisaki Peninsula. Takes a day to drive around or book a tour (operating only on Saturdays and Sundays). (Leaves from the train station.) Well worth it! You can book it via the Tourist Office - at the main rail station. Thirdly, take an ordinary, public bus (from the train station) up to Yufuin - an hour, picturesque trip, well worth it! Gorgeous mountains to see, and walking in the valley, up there - to a nearby, pretty lake.

The natural scenery is incredible and there are a surprising amount of attractions for a town its size. I really enjoyed every onsen I tried too. Public transit was not as good as other areas I went, but still plenty workable.

Probably worth renting a car to see the area since the transit isnt so great as the other big cities and you'll be waiting a while between activities to wait for a bus or train. Otherwise we found excellent food options and bars in Beppu. Oita was a close stop as well which brought some more options.

The seven hells is the main attraction I guess.

The seven hells is the main attraction I guess. As I understood, the springs are originally natural springs, but they have since been developed into quite - how should I say - managed sites. To accomodate such a large number of visitors, this has been a must I guess. Only visited two of the hells to get the point and definitely did not choose to visit the crocodile one based on some criticism on the conditions of the animals. Steam cooking our own meal was an interesting experience and visiting a local onsen was quite naturally a must-do in Beppu, both of which I recommend.

We loved this tiny simple hotel! It is just next to the famous Beppu onsen, close to supermarket and the main street with all the hells. Just a superb location and traditional Japanese tatami and futon bedroom. The accommodation is very basic but the staff makes it exceptional but patiently explaining jigoku cooking and even renting dishes and recommending times. The guy should get a raise, what an absolute hero! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our Beppu stay unforgettable.

Very close to Beppu train station. Room was accessed via a passcode without key or key card. No need to check out as there was nothing to return. There's a public onsen, although it's quite small. The staff was very friendly. I remember the day I arrived at the hotel was a rainy morning, and my suitcase was wet. After I left my suitcase at the reception, the staff took a cloth to wipe my suitcase although I didn't request her to do so.

Great location and very family friendly hotel with pool and Onsen. Onsen is open from 6 and the indoor side is warm with nice scenery of the Beppu city. With breakfast plan it's nice to have a buffet where we can eat from traditional Oita dish to granola and yogurt. Location is on the south side and very close to the beach.
