The room was spacious with a modern Japandi vibe and the beds were very comfortable. The customer service was excellent and a big thanks to the staff Kevin - my bf enjoyed chatting with him at the bar and he gave us lots of great recommendations. Prior to our arrival, I messaged requesting a pescatarian breakfast option after seeing some photos of sandwiches with ham in them. They went out of their way and got me a fresh and delicious vegetarian option. The breakfast was not a huge portion but was high quality and enjoyable. Note: they order from local bakeries/cafes to highlight and support their businesses which added extra points for us. We walked everywhere - since we don't drive, we walked to the Kannawa area, which was about a 10-min walk for hot springs, meals and a few of the hells. There are bus options available around the area too. We are very glad to have picked Negura over the old hotels around the areas that looked like they hadn't been renovated in over 30 years.

I love staying in this best value for money hotel in Beppu. we had free yummy buffet break fast and free invigorating onsen bath daily. The location is perfect for travellers like me. It is so near the town centre especially the Beppu train and bus station and tourist attractions like the Beppu tower, the bay side,famous ancient onsen houses, shopping streets, malls and yummy restaurants. I especially like a bar cum restaurant called Route 10 . I did not have to spend any money on taxi fare as everything is within walking distance. The hotel staff were so welcoming and gave excellent advice on which local tour to take. One very significant tour is called the Beppu Hell's tour can be booked at the counter located within the hotel premises. it only costs 4000 yen for a fully conducted 3 hour tour. You must not miss this tour as it takes you to the most interesting multi coloured volcanic ponds, shrines and even geyser show. I would strongly recommend everyone to stay at this hotel when travelling in Beppu

If you want to really feel like you are within an "onsen...

If you want to really feel like you are within an "onsen town", this could be the best in all of Japan. The view from the castle has you looking out over countless steam stacks, each indicating a spot with an onsen. Natural hot water flows through all of the city's drainage. Everyone seems to be relaxed and moving just a little more slowly. The whole city smells like an onsen right when you leave the train. It is a surreal city to be in and definitely worth visiting if you are spending any amount of time in Kyushu. The best onsen is "Hyotan Onsen", it is near the "7 Hells" and is something I will remember for my whole life!

Beppu has a lot to offer.

Beppu has a lot to offer. Our highlight was Takasakiyama Natural Zoological Garden. Watch about 900 Japanese macaques roam freely and interact with one another. They come down from the mountain, and you are in immediate proximity with them. A very ethical 'zoo'. We spent 2.5 hours there in amazement. It is set in a beautiful environment.

We loved three destinations in Beppu - Firstly, 'The Hells'...

We loved three destinations in Beppu - Firstly, 'The Hells' - 7 natural hot springs bubbling out of the Earth - in different, natural colours, depending on the mineral content! Spectacular! Secondly, the Kunisaki Peninsula. Takes a day to drive around or book a tour (operating only on Saturdays and Sundays). (Leaves from the train station.) Well worth it! You can book it via the Tourist Office - at the main rail station. Thirdly, take an ordinary, public bus (from the train station) up to Yufuin - an hour, picturesque trip, well worth it! Gorgeous mountains to see, and walking in the valley, up there - to a nearby, pretty lake.

The natural scenery is incredible and there are a surprising amount of attractions for a town its size. I really enjoyed every onsen I tried too. Public transit was not as good as other areas I went, but still plenty workable.

Probably worth renting a car to see the area since the...

Probably worth renting a car to see the area since the transit isnt so great as the other big cities and you'll be waiting a while between activities to wait for a bus or train. Otherwise we found excellent food options and bars in Beppu. Oita was a close stop as well which brought some more options.

The seven hells is the main attraction I guess.

The seven hells is the main attraction I guess. As I understood, the springs are originally natural springs, but they have since been developed into quite - how should I say - managed sites. To accomodate such a large number of visitors, this has been a must I guess. Only visited two of the hells to get the point and definitely did not choose to visit the crocodile one based on some criticism on the conditions of the animals. Steam cooking our own meal was an interesting experience and visiting a local onsen was quite naturally a must-do in Beppu, both of which I recommend.

The spa facilities inside the room were excellent and easy to use, and the room itself was clean and very spacious. The staff were also pleasant and easy to talk to, and very helpful with providing information about how to get to different attractions in Beppu. The hotel is conveniently located near a couple different bus stops and the Kannawa Onsen area is within walking distance. There are also a good variety of restaurants nearby.

Superb location. A short 7-10mins walk to the Beppu station. The highway bus station is located along main road opposite hotel; no need to walk / alight at Beppu terminal station. We booked a room with sea view and enjoyed the beautiful sunrise view. The outdoor onsen facing the sea is very relaxing.

The in-room onsen was great. The dinners and breakfasts were amazing. We stayed for 2 nights, and they changed the menu every day. The hotel is also near Beppu station and right next to Don Quijote and a bus stop, so it’s convenient to get around Beppu and shop for souvenirs
