The hotel seems to be very new and everything feels just right. It starts with the tatami mats on the whole hotel area which is walkable without shoes and it ends with the very nice onsen on the 13th floor. You have two big onsens and 7 private onsen baths which are "first come, first serve". But no worries, you will find a free bath quite fast. During the waiting time, you can enjoy free ice cream, massage chairs or mangas (jp only) with a great view over beppu. The hotel is worth every yen you will spend and the hot onsen water baths are the cherry on the top. Definately recommend to stay here👍.

Marvellous view of the city, sea, vulcan from the room. Fantastic breakfast in food quantity and quality, we ate outside on the patio of the breakfast restaurant. A lot of warm dishes, a lot of choice and also finest French patisserie. Fantastic onsen in the hotel. Fantastic nature and forest around the hotel. Very quiet at night. We used the bus coach to reach the city from the hotel, we also walked during the day through the pedestrian walk in the marvellous forest. To reach the entrance of the walk from the hotel, just follow the indication "Promenade" from the hotel: it is super easy: get out of the main entrance of the hotel, walk to the left, walk 100mt up to the kiosks selling tourist stuff, here follow indication "Promenade", it is other 70mt , and then take the path going down, it is not a road, it is very easy and very wide trail.

We were greeted immediately with umbrellas and a smiley guest executive when we arrived at the hotel car park. We had a nice welcome drink and they made sure to give us a good introduction of the hotel facilities before we headed to our room. The receptionists were always ready to greet us with our keys when we arrived back at the hotel from touring the area. They have a beautifully maintained onsen (indoor and outdoor) with super silky waters that feel great on the skin. The rooms are quite spacious as well and they provide us these beautifully printed cookies of Arita porcelain designs in the room as well as green tea leaves as part of their service. We appreciated the nice hygiene amenities in the bathroom. The hotel is on a pretty steep hill so it is hidden away fr the Main Street but there are many eateries and tea shops within walking distance. Bonus - they are partnered with another nearby onsen hotel and we could use their onsen facilities for free as guests. We had a great time staying there.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay with the following highlights. From meeting us in the car park and parking our car for us to helping with the luggage to both rooms, the staff were all amazing and friendly. The rooms were excellent and we had an amazing view from our bigger family room. The Onsen was large and a spectacular view. The dinner option at the buffet was great value. Overall, if we were to visit again, we would choose the same rooms and stay for longer. A big thank you to the assistant in the shop who waited patiently for my partner to bring our passports after doing a random shop for gifts. 10 out of 10 for this amazing place in Nagasaki.

This hotel really surprised us and it would have to be one of my top 5 hotels that I have ever stayed at. The size of the room was just HUGE with a large balcony and an amazing bathroom. The sparkling water/sea views from both the bathtub/bathroom and the main living area were just amazing. There was a lounge suite in the spacious room and 2 King size beds (with trundle beds underneath). The fridge was stocked with complimentary drinks replaced daily and the dinner buffet is one of the best I've had. Unfortunately as our stay was so short we didn't get to use many of the facilities :(

Fukuoka is probably not what one would call a prime Japanese destination. Yet it has quite a lot to offer. Great shopping and the location is such that the rest of Kyushu island can be easily explored. There are quite a few lovely small villages (e.g Okawachiyama - but do not go on a Monday!), plenty of scenic spots (Mt. Nakadake, Amanoyasukawara etc. Fukuoka itself has a lovely bar and restaurant scene with wide variety of options to choose from (Yakitori Hakata Teruko was an absolute delight!)

We really enjoyed taking in the views of Beppu from the ropeway. The hot sand baths were a relaxing experience. We enjoyed exploring along the waterfront. Take time to wander the smaller streets with independent cafes and shops- everyone was very friendly. The 7 hells of beppu were impressive though busy. There are lots of great shops in the local train station for souvenirs.

Nagasaki is a fairly small city with few tourists. The setting is very beautiful. I found the Christian history of Nagasaki very interesting. Other fascinating aspects of Nagasaki are its history of trading with the West during Japan’s isolation period and of course the tragedy of the atomic bomb.

Miyazaki surprises you with an Okinawan or Hawaian feeling that hits you the second you step out of the train station. It is a town with a nice southern atmosphere. There are a lot of day trips available from there, such as Aoshima, which is a must-do. It's easily accesible by train and plane and the aiport, in addition to be directly reachable by train, is one of the best local airports I've experienced in Japan.

Sasebo is heavily influenced by the presence of the US Navy...

Sasebo is heavily influenced by the presence of the US Navy 'Fleet Activities Sasebo' base, which can house thousands of servicemembers, contractors & family members along with the local JP support staff. Huis Ten Bosch, TEAMLAB art/light installation, and the scenic bay are draws, but in general, I find Sasebo to be a little jarring compared to other coastal towns in Kyushu. Locals are a little more wary of westerners since they deal with lots of US servicemembers, and local businesses are a little more touristy for the same reason. Nagasaki is even more beautiful geographically and has fewer Westerners; Kagoshima and Kumamoto are also both nearby and have the added bonus of being accessible via Shinkansen. I go to Sasebo occasionally for work -- I wouldn't really recommend to to people in Japan for sightseeing or travel.
