Although it was a remote location and minimalistic stay, we really enjoyed the stay and would put it as one of our favourites in Japan. The privacy and Nature are unmatched, and the onsen/ gym facilities are an added bonus that most of the cheaper range hotels don’t have. 10/10 would recommend

Love the size of the rooms. We could open two mid size luggages. Room comes with a little balcony, lovely to sit and enjoy the view of the dam. There is also a wash basin in the room. Very practical. Shared bath is also being scrubbed daily. Staff are kind and helpful. Thank you reception staff for receiving us so late and providing late dinner, we didn’t expect it but it was very kind of him. Thank you.

We loved our stay at Kamikoya. Our rooms were beautiful and the view together with the sounds of the stream and the insects outside our window was magical. We barbequed indoors and that was a great experience. We also had the Washi workshop which was fantastic and a great experience to do as a family. The nearby town of Yusuhara has some remarkable architecture and good places to eat and the nature in the area is breathtaking.

Location is in the center of pretty much everything. It’s a short driving distance from Niyodo Blue, Nakatsu Gorge, Shikoku Karst, and Kochi city. It’s a perfect base if you want to explore the area around. The Ochi village itself is also very serene and beautiful. The house is impeccably clean, well-designed, spacious, cozy and very comfortable. You can see the river and submerged bridge from the house. The house is fully equipped with everything one would need during a trip and more. We’re especially impressed with the kitchen. It is a full function kitchen. You can cook some seriously nice food in it. We bought some good quality beef and cooked it in the kitchen and it was one of the nicest meals we had on this trip. We stayed here for 2 nights but we wish we had more time to spend here. Chris, the host is a very attentive and helpful host. He gave us a lot of useful advice for the trip. We had the best experience here and would love to come back soon.
