Stopped here for the night after a long and tiring day's bike riding in the mountains. Lovely little basic log cabin by a gurgling stream. Two bunk beds, a sink and an enclosed toilet outside on the verandah. As there are no restaurants or shops nearby, the kind and chatty receptionist, who speaks very good English, went to great lengths to get me a microwaveable curry and rice for my dinner and made me a bento style breakfast, so I could make an early start in the morning. Above and beyond!

It's the highlight of this trip to Japan. We enjoyed the paper making experience, the place and property. Dinner is not provided but you can bring your own food/meat to BBQ in the gorgeous outdoor kitchen. The view in the morning is unbelievable. Thank you for hosting us! :)

Truly a fantastic place to stay. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The host, Christophe, was very kind and accommodating to any requests we had and check-in was flexible. We had a wonderful time at Carpe Diem and wished we could have stayed longer. Would highly recommend it to anyone!

Absolutely fantastic place to stay if you're cycle touring / bikepacking through shikoku. The location is idyllic, with fantastic views and a feeling of being right in the heart of shikoku. Myself and a friend arrived on Halloween alongside another set of bikepackers, and the facilities were more than sufficient to sort our clothes and gear out after riding over in a rainstorm. Rooms are a traditional style beautifully kept with lovely views. The owners were extremely accommodating and even invited us to a halloween party, offering to drive us all down. We went and had a great time! Huge thanks to everyone for that, it was honestly the highlight of our whole trip and we felt so welcomed. We met a lot of interesting and kind people. If anyone is cycling shikoku and looking for a place to stop, this is an absolutely perfect location for it, set in the middle of a lot of choice cycling destinations, or as a halfway point between kochi and matsuyama as we did.

Great location for exploring Niyodo River. The owners have done an excellent job of refurbishing and decorating the building. The lovely aroma of spiced wood permeated the house from the heated bath. The futons were soft and warm. Loved our stay.
