Hakone has many to offer ...from beautiful scenic views, food,Mt Fuji and many landscape photography spots. A lot of walking trails ...please bring along a walking stick if going to more less walking trails. Overall a wonderful experience and would love to visit this place in next Spring.
A great place for a quick escape from the concrete jungle of Tokyo. There is a bus service from Tokyo that takes you to Hakone in 2 hours. One can also take the train. Some hotels are located just next to the bus stops.
We have been to Hakone several times and always enjoy the Nature, the scenery and the fresh air. But it is a heavily used tourist area and we like to be away from people when we can to enjoy Nature and relax. We have found some areas that are more quiet and peaceful.
There was a great variety of things to do. We loved using the ropeway, exploring the Open Air Museum and visiting the Wetland Gardens. Finding a place to eat in the evenings was not easy. Perhaps this was connected to covid or because we stayed mid week.
Hakone is a great getaway from busy Tokyo life, not too far, with various options of travel and accomodation. There are quite a few things to see, from lake, through sulful fields, to Hakone Open Air museum of art - pretty much everyone will find something to enjoy. Gora park is very underrated, it is beautiful and well taken care of. So if you can, book yourself a room with private onsen, after being a tourist and walking around you can just relax and enjoy the bath.
We just stayed for 1.5 days and 1 night, and we could have easily probably spent another 1-2 nights here to see a bit more. Lots to see and do but Hakone is made up of a lot of spaced out "villages" and each have their own sights so you'll have to plan carefully to get to all the attractions that each area has to offer.
Hakone
Very high end. Luxurious private onsen, luxurious dining exerience in a private dining room. Dining is only Japanese but you can choose between Japanese and Western breakfast. The Japanese dinner was an experience for us because first time in Japan. We did not like all of it but you could feel it was "haute cuisine". We choose Western breakfast and it was super nice. the location is few minutes from Hakone-Yumoto station but going up hill so better take small bus or taxi. You can walk in the small town full of tourists and shops.
+ Bed was comfortable (although I’d have preferred a harder pillow). + Twin room comes with a toilet and bathroom (toilet and bathroom are separate). + Facial cleanser, toner & moisturiser available at the onsen changing area (not in the room). + Didn’t use the dining area and bar but looked nice. + Minimalistic design but beautifully done up. + Walk the underpass right outside the guesthouse and u are at Gora station. + Excellent value considering that accommodation in Hakone can be pricey.
Hakone
We stayed at another ryokan twice the cost of Centurion Hakone Bettei and Bettei’s meals and service were better than them by miles. The Staff was extremely helpful. Picked us up and dropped us off at Gora station. They even contacted the gora information center to make arrangement with the workers there for our arrival for pick up. The dinner and breakfast tasted exceptional. Outdoor onsen and views were just as advertised if not better. We will definitely come back next time.
Hakone
This hotel is located right behind from the Hakone-Yumoto station. It has Onsen, which is nice With one big Onsen bath. My little 3 y.o.girl enjoyed there a lot, Onsen water was not too hot, but very comfortable. Room where we stopped was big enough and you can take onsen bath right in your privet bathroom. Good for that, who has tattoos. In a room you can find extra mattresses and blankets for big company.
Hakone
Perfect taster of traditional Japanese life Beautiful wooden architecture The onsen (both public and private) were relaxing and clean Delightful and helpful staff Delicious food - we had the 10 course Japanese dinner. Western breakfast of fruit/omelette/bread/coffee was also excellent. Excellent location, just 10 minutes walk from Hakone Yumoto, or 1 stop on the train Feeding the Koi carp
The lady who checked me in was amazing and showed me around for my stay. I checked in on a Friday so I was the only person in the hotel and got the whole place and onsen to myself. And the onsen is amazing especially the outdoor one. The onsen alone makes the whole stay worth it because of the price.
Hakone
The best part of this guest house is the private onsen; you can use it half an hour a day without any strangers. The staff is very kind and helpful in finding your way in Hakone. The price was very fair for all it had to offer and it is cheaper compared to other ryokans in Hakone!
Hakone
Traditional breakfast was great, and the private outdoor onsen option was nice as well. The public onsen was nice too. Views were gorgeous since it was basically the highest hotel in Hakone. Room was especially gorgeous!! Tatami was clean and I loved the chairs.
It is a beautiful traditional style ryokan with a nice view. The staff were super friendly. They offer a huge, delicious breakfast. I really enjoyed reserving the private onsen. The location is a couple bus stops from Lake Ashi.
Happy hour and breakfast were lovely. Hotel never felt crowded. Onsen facilities were high quality and also never felt crowded. Shuttle service very useful.
Great hotel with Onsen, the location was great for all the local attractions in Hakone. Evening meal was a great sample of Japanese cuisine
Great hotel, nice rooms, view on the lake and fuji from the park. Onsen is supergreat ! And very nice staff

Hakone
Beautiful location. Good onsen facilities, however, they are single sex onsens.
