Hakone has many to offer ...from beautiful scenic views, food,Mt Fuji and many landscape photography spots. A lot of walking trails ...please bring along a walking stick if going to more less walking trails. Overall a wonderful experience and would love to visit this place in next Spring.
A great place for a quick escape from the concrete jungle of Tokyo. There is a bus service from Tokyo that takes you to Hakone in 2 hours. One can also take the train. Some hotels are located just next to the bus stops.
We have been to Hakone several times and always enjoy the Nature, the scenery and the fresh air. But it is a heavily used tourist area and we like to be away from people when we can to enjoy Nature and relax. We have found some areas that are more quiet and peaceful.
There was a great variety of things to do. We loved using the ropeway, exploring the Open Air Museum and visiting the Wetland Gardens. Finding a place to eat in the evenings was not easy. Perhaps this was connected to covid or because we stayed mid week.
Hakone is a great getaway from busy Tokyo life, not too far, with various options of travel and accomodation. There are quite a few things to see, from lake, through sulful fields, to Hakone Open Air museum of art - pretty much everyone will find something to enjoy. Gora park is very underrated, it is beautiful and well taken care of. So if you can, book yourself a room with private onsen, after being a tourist and walking around you can just relax and enjoy the bath.
We just stayed for 1.5 days and 1 night, and we could have easily probably spent another 1-2 nights here to see a bit more. Lots to see and do but Hakone is made up of a lot of spaced out "villages" and each have their own sights so you'll have to plan carefully to get to all the attractions that each area has to offer.
Hakone
- Owner is polite and helpful. - Typical Japanese style room; I had a good rest there (you just need to hope that other guests are quiet, because walls are thin. It was fine when I stayed, since everyone kept noise down). - Pretty good location, near Lake Ashi and very close to the bus stop where buses from Odawara/Hakone-Yumoto to Moto-Hakone/Hakonemachiko (bus H, bus stop Oshiba = 149) stops. - Good wifi. - Price was right when I stayed, one of the cheapest options in the area and still quite comfortable!
Hakone
The room with private onsen is, of course, premium. This was my second visit and I am sure I will visit again. Great room, large, with everything you need, the staff was welcoming and helpful as well. I was working every day from my room, so I asked for a bit delayed cleaning at 11AM and they were totally OK with it. Gora station is literally behind the corner, with the cable car and also bus stop nearby - ideal for traveling around Hakone for few days.
Hakone
Excellent course meals, clean and great views from public onsens. My private onsen was perfect, beautiful view of a Japanese garden with a stream. The staff were lovely, cheerful, and helpful. You can arrange pick up and drop off from one of the main bus stops (boat sightseeing location by Lake Ashi). The facility and rooms were clean and great to stay in. Lovely Japanese garden you can walk in. I got the Japanese style room, perfectly comfortable
Hakone
Kana was the staff member who greeted us and helped us out in terms of what bus to take and even booked an onsen on our behalf. It was so nice to have a lovely staff member be very inviting to us during our stay in hakone! The rooms we stayed were exactly as pictured on the website to no surprises. The dorm did have ample room for many luggages which we carried but because it's a small place it only had stairs to climb up to the sleeping area.
Perfect room for my wife and 3 children. The two sofa beds were set up and made prior to our arrival, which made it easy to get our children to bed the first night. Plenty of free parking, which isn't always available in Japan. Lots of activities to do right next to the hotel property (aquarium, petting zoo, boat rides, arcade, etc.). Free shuttle bus into town. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice outdoor onsen.
Hakone
The location was great! It's very close to Hakone Yumoto Station, and it's easy to reach the sightseeing spots and onsen from there. The house is very comfortable and has everything you need. The extra blankets provided were very warm and comfy, which is nice as it was quite cold in Hakone during our stay. Yoshi was very helpful and friendly. He responded to all my messages and questions very quickly.
Hakone
The views from the room were fantastic! The onsen experience was great but the property overall is in need of a little bit of TLC. We stayed in the Japanese style rooms which were nice but a bit outdated. The staff were very attentive and nice including the staff that shuttled us to and from the okado hotel nearby to get the shuttle bus into town.
Hakone
Excellent in any possible way!! Onsen is with amazing view and is to die for. Food is excellent and staffs is always nice and with happy face, special thanks to Moe Kitabayashi for her kindness and hospitality. It is on an expensive side compared to other hotels but definitely worth staying!! Will definitely come back.
Hakone
The in-room onsen experience is amazing. Room is quite spacious and private with a variety of perks and amenities. The location is also great. There is a bus station right across with multiple lines for Gora, Hakone-Yumoto and Togendai.
Hakone
The location was ideal for exploring Hakone. And the staff friendly and helpful. The price point was reflective of the standard of the hotel rooms. The Onsen was a lovely addition and I used it several times.
Hakone
We were very impressed with this hotel! A quick walk from the central train station, with nice, big rooms and a big, beautiful onsen looking onto the Hakone hills. The dinner and breakfast were also very good.
Hakone
A great location just a 10 minute walk from Hakone Yamuto station, perfect for exploring Hakone. The onsen baths were a very nice addition as well. This was a great value hotel.
Hakone
The location is just on the lake with beautiful view, the staff were so nice and helpful, the Onsen is great , the food is tasty - I liked everything in that hotel!
You can walk to the rope way and cruise port! Rooms were clean and spacious. BEAUTIFUL onsen, quiet hotel, friendly staff! I will be staying there again:)
Hakone
Onsen location and beatiful hotel with kind hospitality. one of the greatest onsen hotels in Japan

Hakone
The hotel was clean, the staff friendly and helpful, and the the hot springs big and plentiful. I loved how we got an introduction from the staff as well as a meal ticket for their delicious breakfast and dinner.
Hakone
Beautiful location. Good onsen facilities, however, they are single sex onsens.
