I couldn’t have wished for a better place to stay! This homestay only opened recently, and it offers a truly authentic experience in a small village just outside Kratie. It’s a peaceful 30-minute walk to the city center, making it the perfect balance between local life and accessibility. The homestay itself is beautifully decorated, but what makes it truly special is the owner, Sochy and his family. He is incredibly warm-hearted and always available to help with anything you need. He assisted me with organizing my activities in Kratie and even helped plan my onward journey to Phnom Penh. I felt completely at home and can highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!

This is a unique hotel in a lovely town. It has an eclectic decor set in a beautiful old French building restored by the owner, Alex. Super cool sitting room, great rooftop for sunset drinks and only three bedrooms.

There is nothing much to do except to go and see the dolphins. I thought about relaxing there a few days more, walk along the riverside, read my book. But then some guy tried to scam me. He came up to me at the riverside for a 'friendly' chat and said he'd walk with me to the street food market. Then he was talking about how he did not have a job and was hungry and he wanted me to buy food for him. Then some little girl gave me a snack and they use these children to make you feel guilty and after he got a coffee from one of the woman in the market. They work together to make you feel guilty about not buying them food. Which I didn't. I told him I was going back to my guesthouse. Then he tried to convince me to go for a walk with him again later in the evening. When that did not work he offered massage and sex. I just refused and went back to the guesthouse. One thing I do not like in Cambodia is these scammrs.

Yes, one does see the river dophins, either by kayak or by motorized boat, approx. 11 k. north of Kratie. If the wind is blowing kayakers might need a tow. Most of the motorized boats were very respectful of the dolphins and did not crowd these silvery creatures. To get there I shared a tuk-tuk operatd by Mr. Soda who speaks some English and French. Our return to Kratie included a stop at "Monkey Moiuntain" and a climb up more than 300 stairs. Take the walking stick offered as the monkeys can be aggressive! Another activity: take the ferry across to the island. Old clunker bikes can be rented there, or you can rent & transport a better one. The circle route is a short, flat ride. Great beaches and some facilities.

Unless you want to see the dolphins I wouldn’t bother with Kratie. The town offers nothing but the dolphins for tourists. The markets are only really for locals and the eating options are very limited.

This will be one of my memorable stays during my 25 day Cambodian trip. Hosts were super friendly and helpful. Always available. Made a phone call for me when there was a language issue. Arranged a great dolphin watching tour. We had great sightings. The next day I hired a bicycle (in good condition) from the hostel and cycled to the ferry and then on the island of Koh Trong. Beds are big and comfortable. Walking space around your own bed and big curtain in front. Super clean!

Well run hotel, large spacious rooms with very comfortable bed, good sized bathroom. The room was very clean and serviced every day. Nice Terrace restaurant with views over the Mekong. All the staff were friendly and attentive and could answer all your questions about local attractions as well as arranging tours. I would highly recommend this Hotel in Kratie.

The owners are extremely helpful, when I arrived Hak collected me from the bus station. I was given a bike to cycle in the city. Hak cooked two delicious meals. I recommend to do the full day tour which involves seeing the dolphins and experiencing how the locals live. The room is basic but fine. I had a bathroom and mosquito net. A memorable stay.

Good location just a little walk up towards more restaurants etc. Run by a lovely friendly family and the dolphin kayak tours they run are excellent. Facilities are very basic and the place could do with a bit of tlc but for the price point you can't complain at all. Ideal for a short stay to see the river dolphins.

Wonderful location and delicious food! - we had a lot of fun! Renting motorbikes to discover the island! Spending your time in the resort was Sonntag much more fun, then trying to watch the Mekong dolphins! Highly recommended!
