Palace Gate Hotel & Resort 5 stars

Hotel in Daun Penh, Phnom Penh

Set in a restored French colonial villa adjacent to the Royal Palace, Palace Gate Hotel & Resort offers accommodations in Phnom Penh with views of the Tonle Sap River. The hotel Front Desk Staff, reception and the concierge, all were great, extremely friendly and very helpful. The hotel has a strategic location. The National Museum, the Royal Palace, Art Shows and Classical Dances shows, Green Park, River Side and the Night Market are all around the hotel with 50m-2Km radius. The hotel rooms are very spacious and very clean. Pay extra and stay in a room with a river view. It is great to see the river. The hotel decoration is artistic every where reminding you that you are in a Buddhist country. The breakfast have a variety of choices. The eggs cooking counter was excellent. Phnom Penh, and contrary to what i have red, is very safe. During my seven (7) days visit to Phnom Penh i have neither had a problem nor some body snatched my bag. And i did not encountered any pick pockets even in crowded areas. Just be careful as you are and do in your own country. The people are very polite and they mind their own business. The killing Fields and Prison S 21 needs to be seen, so one to remember and pray for the 2 million innocent souls and victims who died during 1975-1979 genocide era. The hotel has its own transportation cars and cooperate with honest Tuks Tuks drivers. The hotel own private cars with AC, and for 4 hours, can take you to both the Phnom Penh Killing Field and Prison S 21 for 50+15 USD for tickets.

Cambodia's Colourful Capital

Cambodia has successfully dusted itself off from the ravages of war with its colourful capital of Phnom Penh rising from the ashes and sparkling once more. This fascinating city, on the banks of the Mekong River, features exotic markets, cultural jewels and is home to some of the friendliest people on earth.

A visit to the National Museum captures a slice of Cambodia’s ancient Khmer history and art. A different and more recent history suffocates and overwhelms visitors to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, the former prison of the Khmer Rouge, and The Killing Fields are a short drive from the capital.

The Royal Palace is a striking centrepiece in the centre of Phnom Penh, and is home to the Emerald Buddha and Silver Pagoda. Not far away is the Cambodian Independence Monument that celebrates Cambodia’s sovereignty.

You can satisfy your hunger pains with delicious French-Indochina-inspired meals at various street stalls or classy restaurants. The riverside area has the Art Deco Central Market for a great bargain and there are a variety of bars, especially near Sisowath Quay.

Take time to walk around the French colonial streets with its mix of slow-moving monks and speedy motorbikes. Booking.com has many hotels located in Daun Penh and Chamkar Mon districts, amongst others.
