Ulsan's motto is "the rising city".

Ulsan's motto is "the rising city". It's known for heavy industries such as ship building and auto manufacturing. There is also a massive petro-chemical facility nearby. However, it is also working hard to develop its river bike paths and central river garden into a true destination visit. We love going to Ulsan for quick getaways and to enjoy the bamboo forest and gardens nearby. Lots of places to enjoy coffee and a nice variety of restaurants if you're willing to look around. We stay at the Riverside Hotel, but have also had good stays at the Shilla Stay and Lotte City Hotel. Taxis seem very available, and the drivers have been excellent. If you're a bike rider, then Ulsan is a fantastic place to stay and ride.

Ulsan is a city centred around its major industry - vehicle manufacture. We attempted to arrange a Hyundai factory tour - the world's largest car plant - (before we left home in Australia and again when we arrived in Ulsan) but the factory management made this too difficult which was disappointing. We had incorrectly assumed that as satisfied owners of a new Hyundai SUV we would be welcomed. Some outdoor attractions are worthwhile eg Daewangam Park and the museum's hi-tech tour of the city, including a glimpse of the ancient rock paintings. The more recent history of Japanese influence was evident in many places.

i am wain.i am a traveller.ulsan is nice too visit.some nice places too see.the big wheel is worth going on get of bus 124 127 307 and you will see.but so far in my 2 3/4 monthes in korea i have found too many smokers and spiters and it is not clean.if they cleansd the foot parthes it would be better. show my name as WAIN in preveiwes

The location was great - it's near a lot of shops and there's a lot of cafes nearby as well. I went to Ulsan to escape big crowds and to take a break from studying - I strongly recommend doing that! I recommend going to Seuldo Island to take a break near the calming water (there's a lot of cats there as well :) ). If you are traveling with little ones (around 8 year olds) - I recommend on going to the Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Village!

The hotel is outstanding, the rooms were spacious and very comfortable, the meals were reasonably priced for this standard of hotel and all the staff were polite and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel if you're ever visiting Ulsan
