I highly recommend it. The owners are incredibly kind. Unfortunately we had stomach problems. The owners gave us some medicine. We were with a one year old baby, so they offered us another night for free. Our transportation failed, so they arranged their own for us. The rooms were clean and nice, and the dinner was huge.

We loved the accommodation, with a beautiful terrace at the front overlooking nature and the sunset. The owner was helpful in arranging a safari and for advising restaurants in the neighbourhood for take away (so we could it with the beautiful view). The sanitaire was clean.

My stay at Jayantha’s “Nature Kingdom” was truly unique. He owns a large piece of land surrounded by wild jungle and a beautiful natural landscape filled with wildlife that almost feels like Africa. The setting is peaceful, spacious, and deeply connected to nature. The bungalow is handmade from wood and natural materials, built by himself over seven years. It has a special rustic charm and very good energy. For me, this journey became a personal retreat — a time to slow down, reconnect with nature, and feel my body, mind, and soul come back into balance. On arrival, he offered me fresh coconut, and in the morning I enjoyed healthy porridge and delicious homemade curry cooked with ingredients from the land. The food was fresh, natural, and prepared with care. Practicing yoga and meditation in the jungle, with fire and candles at night, was a truly memorable experience. The cats and dogs around the property are friendly and comforting, adding to the warm atmosphere. Jayantha is passionate and hardworking, with big dreams for this place. He has deep knowledge of herbs, gardening, and self-sufficient living. With 22 years of experience as a chef, he is an excellent cook. His life story — how he built this land and created his own “kingdom” — is interesting and inspiring. He is kind-hearted and generous in sharing both his space and his vision. At the same time, the property is remote and truly in the wild. I saw peacocks outside my window, buffalo grazing nearby, many birds, and even elephants while hiking in the jungle. At night, you may hear elephants moving. The land is protected with an electric fence, which provides a sense of safety. This is not a typical hotel or luxury retreat — it is more like staying inside someone’s personal dream project. You need to feel comfortable with a simple, nature-based lifestyle. However, the bed is comfortable, with a good mattress and clean, good-quality bedsheets.

Where do I start! everything was beautiful from the calm garden inside the nature to the most poetic looking river, the room was huge and specially made for safari vibes. Each one of the staff was super nice and friendly thanks to (Mr. Reihen, Mangala, Mangula) for making our stay very special. The food and the starry calm night were amazing. We went on a safari trip with Mr. Reihen who was a professional guide and photographer, the tour was almost private, one car only. We went to zone 5 which only 20-30 safari cars were there so we could really enjoy the trip. We were very lucky to see many animals specially the beautiful leopard.

Clean, incredible service minded people, the owners built the place themselves and have a beautiful story behind the land they’ve turned into this beautiful place. And the food!!! Their food was amazing!

Our stay at Mallara Rest Safari was truly incredible! If you're a nature lover, this place is an absolute must-visit. Babi and his staff are exceptionally hospitable, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The accommodation itself is beautifully designed, blending perfectly with its surroundings. Right next to the property, we saw various animals passing by—during the day, water buffaloes and stunning birds, and at night, even elephants! The food was absolutely delicious, adding to the overall experience. Staying in the treehouse was magical—it allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in nature, listening to the soothing sounds of wildlife at night, which felt almost meditative. Babi also took us to explore different local spots, showing us breathtaking views and beautiful scenery that we wouldn't have found on our own. We also arranged a safari nearby, exploring the nearby Yala Block 5 and 6, where we were lucky enough to see leopards, elephants, and a variety of other animals. Overall, our experience was nothing short of amazing. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable nature getaway!
