Our stay at Mallara Rest Safari was truly incredible! If you're a nature lover, this place is an absolute must-visit. Babi and his staff are exceptionally hospitable, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The accommodation itself is beautifully designed, blending perfectly with its surroundings. Right next to the property, we saw various animals passing by—during the day, water buffaloes and stunning birds, and at night, even elephants! The food was absolutely delicious, adding to the overall experience. Staying in the treehouse was magical—it allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in nature, listening to the soothing sounds of wildlife at night, which felt almost meditative. Babi also took us to explore different local spots, showing us breathtaking views and beautiful scenery that we wouldn't have found on our own. We also arranged a safari nearby, exploring the nearby Yala Block 5 and 6, where we were lucky enough to see leopards, elephants, and a variety of other animals. Overall, our experience was nothing short of amazing. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable nature getaway!

Great value for money. Appreciate the hospitality. I wish nothing but the best for the Art Yala team. There was a good breakfast and a lot of restaurants close by for convenience. Definitely head to the ancient temples close by. It's right next to the lake so it was very relaxing for my family.

Incredible stay with a wonderful host! The room was perfectly comfortable with great facilities and cooling system. The host was an absolute standout of the property! He welcomed us with fresh king coconuts and then took us for a tour around the lake and rice fields, including showing us plenty of water birds and crocodiles. He also helped organise transport for us between locations and was fully responsible for organising our safari (where we saw a leopard)! It was a highlight of our trip to stay here and highly recommended it for anyone hoping to see Yala!

I can’t recommend more this hotel. The family is extremely helpful and kind. They were all the time asking me about my necessities and bringing me all the help I needed. For wildlife and nature photographers, this hotel is truly a paradise. You can easily arrange a private safari to Yala National Park directly with Mithi, which makes logistics incredibly convenient. The hotel’s location is also excellent for birding and wildlife observation — both Debarawewa Lake and Pannagamuwa Wewa are within walking distance. With Mithi’s help, it’s also easy to reach Wirawila Lake and Tissa Lake by tuk-tuk. In addition, there is a small stream right beside the property, which becomes a fantastic spot for night walks, especially for observing amphibians and insects. Mithi herself is incredibly resourceful and helpful — whatever you need, just let her know and she will make it happen quickly and smoothly. I spent several wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable days here, and would happily return again.
