Beautiful town with rich history (Medieval castle and gothic church of the Livonian Order) and vibrant artistic life (exquisite concert hall, contemporary art galleries) + tasty food, which includes at least two restaurants from Michelin guidebook and a lot of other cafeterias and bistros.

The city full of history, old town is really authentic and...

The city full of history, old town is really authentic and beautiful, definitely take a couple of hours to have a tour in the castle with candle latern climb by the western tower stairs. Surrounding area of Gauja National Park is beautiful and perfect place to have the walking tours. Though, if you are looking for a paved plain road to enjoy the scenery, this is not for you :) This is how nature looks like - ups and downs, forest paths and some fallen trees to climb over!

Great small town.

Great small town. Big attractions are the castle; the forest walks for hikers; the nearby outdoor activity centre with kayaking etc; lovely restaurants and cafes - good food but not expensive. Friendly people, courteous drivers, feels very safe to stroll around.

Oņegins of the mosties beautiful citu in Latvia, with great authentic Old Town, Medņevas Castle, museum and cool exhibition halls. Also, events are perfect in conret hall "Cesis". I attended opera "Parcifal" 09.08.2025 in there and this only Oņegins great example of how much interesting events are took place in the town during entire year.

The castle in the town centre is a must to visit.

The castle in the town centre is a must to visit. You are given a candle in a lantern to see round the dark passage ways. We took a bus the the Eagle Cliffs and walked in the forest. Zala Zale does a great burger and chips!

Small and cozy town, beautiful little main street, very impressive castle ruin with medieval-inspired activities and wonderful nature trails just in reach out of town. The new castle was nice, but not exactly a highlight, but just a few kilometers and easily reachable by car or bus, there is an archeological park with a rebuilt lake "fortress" that is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended for a short stay if you like nature and a few calm days away from Rīga, as long as you don't seek for any thrilling excitement.

Amazing design hotel! Very central but at the same time quiet and peaceful. It's the best choice for design lovers who admire historical, wooden architecture with the modern twist. One of the hotel highlights was self-service: you can buy high quality pre-paid meals and heat them up in apartment. There is also lovely garden where to have a morning coffee or some night cup.

Beautiful house in a beautiful location. Convinient for 6 people. Cosy indoor terrace with heating. Plenty of walking trails nearby as well as charming Cēsis. We would definitely recommend this house for a peaceful rest near the nature.

This apartment was super clean, super well equipped and a fantastic size. The little sunroom and outdoor access were a lovely bonus. It's a very quiet location, just 20 mins walk from Cesis old town (or a 5 min drive, easy parking).
