Riga is a beautiful, clean and charming city, and I really enjoyed that it wasn’t overly crowded with tourists. It was lovely to explore the city at a relaxed pace and enjoy its architecture and atmosphere. I also loved the beautiful seaside towns around Riga. They were peaceful and incredibly beautiful, and I had some moments there when I felt a real sense of harmony and tranquillity. The only downside for us was that we found people to be somewhat reserved and not particularly warm or friendly. I’m from Mexico and my husband is Irish, so we come from cultures where people tend to be more open, warm and friendly in everyday interactions. Of course, every culture is different, and this is simply our personal experience.

The old city where we stayed is full of history.

The old city where we stayed is full of history. The Riga Central Market is a must visit. Lots of eateries, interesting museums. Plenty to do at all hours. A visit to Jurmala on the Baltic is only a half hour train trip from Riga Central and makes an enjoyable outing. Historic canal boat tour is worth doing to obtain a different view of Riga.

We've been to Riga many times by now and it never gets old.

We've been to Riga many times by now and it never gets old. I can recommend everything there is to visit. Some of our favourite places are the Central Market and the Old Town around the Cathedral. For a great view over the city visit the top floor of the National Library or the Academy of Sciences building.

Riga was a lovely city with plenty of museums to visit.It was lovely to just wander around the old town taking in all the architecture.I would highly recommend the Riga free walking tour of the old town.We had some lovely meals and can highly recommend the Lido restaurant which was very good value

Despite what friends had told me, I was still very (positively) surprised. The lively Old Town with a lot of Art Nouveau architecture, many interesting museums, the unmistakably signs of the Soviet era, the outstanding market across from bus terminal, a short train ride from the city Jurmala the most stunning beach front etc etc

There's a lot to see in Riga.

There's a lot to see in Riga. Lots of mediocre food joints, but one which is quite superb: Domini Canes near St John's church. Wow! High class cooking at very reasonable prices. The indian restaurant just across the way is also very good and very reasonable.

The hotel is well located, at the same time close to/within old town but also within very reasonable distance to the central district, under 10 minutes from the Riga central market, etc. The spa and treatments available seemed nice but I didn't have time to enjoy them. The room was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very nice, with a lot of choice. You could make your own waffles, always a nice touch.

The room looks great, it is clean. The breakfast was very good. The staff was helpful and kind. The location is superb, very close to the bus heading tonthe airport, close to the train station if you want to travel within the country and of course in the old town, so everything is at hand. We would return to this hotel if we visited Riga again

A lovely hotel right next to the old town, where we actually managed to get good night’s sleep – and that at a time when Riga’s city centre is overrun by hordes of stag and hen parties. The reception staff were helpful and even came to our aid when a continuous alarm went off in an (empty) neighbouring room at four in the morning.

I liked the hotel very much. The location is perfect if you do not want to be in the middle of a busy and noisy town center. Easy to reach by public transport from the airport as well as going to the old town. The room was comfortable with a nice welcome card upon arrival. Good breakfast with a lot of choices for everyone.
