Everything in the hotel was great, nice staff, quiet clean place to sleep, breakfast and bathroom. Please expand to other airports, lots of people who fly at ridiculous hours and only spend a few hours on layover will appreciate it. And personally the Japanese toilet with bidet and heated seat is just top notch.

The old town of Riga is lovely to walk around with lots of old, interesting buildings and little narrow streets. Everything is within walking distance but I would not recommend going in high heels as the streets are mostly cobbled. You can go up the tower of St Peter's church and get a fantastic panoramic view right across the town. There are wonderful Art Nouveau style buildings in the old town but the best are to be found in the side streets off the Elizabeth Street. You can get a free map with the locations of all the best facades marked on it from the tourist information (next to the House of the Blackheads) and they have other useful information too. The War Museum has a wealth of information about World Wars 1 and 2 and the History Museum has a broad history of Latvia through the ages with brand new interactive displays (July 2026) which would be more appealing to younger people. The seaside or 'Jurmala' is worth visiting and trains leave the main railway station about every 20 minutes. The beach itself has beautiful soft sand. The sea is shallow for a long way in and there doesn't seem to be much of a tide. It stretches for miles so it would seem best to concentrate on one area at a time. 'Dzintari' is a good stop for the recreational park with its walks through trees, play equipment and activities like climbs through trees activities for children.

Lot's of things to see in Riga.

Lot's of things to see in Riga. The old city alone can keep you occupied for a whole day. Many restaurants of all kinds and different prices. For good unpretentious food, visit Lido (several locations) or Zviedru Vārti. The Museum of Occupation is a must to understand the history of Latvia. You can travel to the Open Air Museum on the outskirts on a trolley bus. This features traditional villages in a forest settings, near Jugla Lake.

At least the areas I walked in. Saw few grafittis but no trash on the ground. Really yea maybe should move more outside of center to see real situation but I expect it is much better than Berlin.

I really enjoyed my time in Riga.

I really enjoyed my time in Riga. It was a perfect city for my first solo trip: calm, beautiful, well-organized and easy to explore. The Old Town has a great atmosphere, with nice restaurants, lots of history, and good public transport. I was also satisfied with the value for money, and the locals seemed kind and respectful. Another big plus is that the seaside in Jūrmala is easily reachable by train, which makes a great half-day or full-day trip.

The location is excellent, very close to the old town but not right within, so going to the city center and the parks is also just a 5 minute walk. Bus and train station were also basically around the corner. Ramune is an excellent host, very communicative and eager to help. Small details in the rooms, like a chocolate bar hanging at the door before checkout, show that she really cares. Amenities also just as described (like a big and good hair dryer instead of the cheap, generic ones at a regular hotel).

Alisa at the reception kindly offered us an upgrade free of charge. We enjoyed a very nice suite with two rooms and a balcony. The location is one of the best in Riga. It is in the city center and very close to the old town. The facilities of this hotel are very nice. Everything looks new and stylish. The neighborhood is very elegant. There are many nice restaurants and the National Art Museum in a few steps. Breakfast was nice. The bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable.

The hotel is well located, at the same time close to/within old town but also within very reasonable distance to the central district, under 10 minutes from the Riga central market, etc. The spa and treatments available seemed nice but I didn't have time to enjoy them. The room was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very nice, with a lot of choice. You could make your own waffles, always a nice touch.
