Amazing, comfortable room in a beautiful boutique hotel. Location is just perfect. Its a pleasant walk distace from Victoria, close to Ramla beach and next to Unesco Ggantija temples. Area is very quiet. The best place we stayed during our two weeks trip to Malta and Gozo.

We spent eleven days on holiday in Malta, staying in a total of four different accommodations. For all of them, we specifically chose places rated at least 8.5 on Booking.com. We have to start by praising the Booking.com system: we were a little worried that such high ratings might be exaggerated, but in every case, the accommodations perfectly matched the reviews. We stayed three days at San Pawl Residence on Gozo, and it truly lacked nothing. Due to the longer car rental process and the ferry transfer, we arrived later than planned, but Massimo, the owner, kindly waited for us and even offered helpful tips. Throughout our stay, he was incredibly supportive – helping us when we had minor car issues and providing detailed advice on sightseeing, planning tours, and local attractions off the beaten track, such as a traditional fish market frequented by locals rather than tourists. His recommendations made our stay much richer and allowed us to experience Gozo in a more authentic way. The accommodation fully matches the photos. Our room was very spacious, clean, and tidy, and the bathroom was absolutely stunning. Everything was well-maintained, and it was clear that great care goes into this property. The breakfast was excellent – perhaps not as abundant as a large hotel buffet, but fresh, tasty, and satisfying. Make sure to ask Massimo to prepare a freshly made omelette or scrambled eggs – they were simply amazing and a real highlight of our mornings. We were completely satisfied and can fully confirm the high Booking.com rating – there is no reason to deduct any points.

A lovely little town close to Victoria and Ramla beach.

A lovely little town close to Victoria and Ramla beach. It is quiet and full of character with a lovely little square with good cafe's and restaurants. The ta Kola windmill and the Ggantija temples are amazing. There are also some caves and grottos that can be vistied which have interesting rock formatiations, stalagtites and stalamites.

Xaghra was a great place to stay, with some lovely restaurants in the village square. The Ggantija Temples in the village are definitely worth a visit - over 5000 years old. We walked to Calypso's cave (though unfortunately it's closed, and we couldn't really see the cave entrance, though we were able to do so from a path walking down to Ramla Beach). We didn't hire a car, so travelled around by bus - easy to do if you time it right, as the buses only run every hour.

Xagħra is a charming town, situated in a strategic location close to the main attractions, including Gigantja and the Mill, as well as the towns of Victoria and Marsalforn. Easy to move around the island by bus, taxi and car. I highly recommend searching for accommodation in this area!

This Gozo village/town is easily reached by bus from the ferry or from Victoria. Unlike other parts of Gozo and Malta, it does not suffer from over-tourism or large, high-rise developments. The central square is dominated by the large church at one end. There are about a dozen restaurants in this central area. We lived the wide choice of eating places and "watering holes". This is no party venue for the young, but a more sedate venue for the descerning visitor. It can get quite busy in the evenings as there is a road and bus route through the piazza. We did a number of walks from the village and also visited the old windmill, the toy museum, the Neolithic park and Mixta cave overlooking Ramla beach. On one day of our week-long stay we walked a 7 mile section of the coastal path from Ramla to the Masalforn salt pans. This could challenge hikers who are not fit due to the steepness of the path - inadvisable in wet weather as the path has muddy sections. Like most places in Malta and Gozo, there is a lot of discarded rubbish and lots of dog shit. Apparently many dog owners cannot read or will not comply with the frequent signs warning of the consequences of failing to clear up the dog's mess. Pavements - the proprietors each property with a street frontage appear to be responsible for the installation and maintenance of the pavement (broadwalk). There is zero uniformity in height, width, finish, condition or angle. Consequently it is near-impossible to use the pavements and pedestrians are obliged to walk on the roads. Certainly not ideal for buggies or people with mobility issues. The place grew on us as the week - we have no immediate or pressing plans or desires to return.

I had a lovely stay in Xagħra. Tony, the host, is a wonderful person who truly made me feel at home. He was always quick to reply to my messages and made everything very easy from the start. The accommodation is easy to find and conveniently located, with a bus stop nearby that takes you directly to the Gozo ferry. Tony also shared great suggestions on places to visit and things to do around the area, which made my stay even better. The place itself is lovely, and so is Tony. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it.

Breakfast was nice and fresh and with items which were different from the usual buffet plus a daily surprise cooked item but lacked yogurts and fresh milk and not enough fruit. Nice pool and view from the rooftop. Room was nice and bright with a balcony. Area extremely quiet and walking distance to the square. Staff when needed were helpful. The hotel is very organised and they pay attention to detail overall
