United KingdomMy family and I were visiting my son and this is one hotels we stayed at during out visit to Mexico. We loved the rustic style and the whole place was very peaceful and relaxing. There were plenty of places to sit but we particularly loved the little terraces outside each room. Whilst the pool area was small we didn't have any problem with it being too busy. Everywhere was kept clean and tidy with rooms being serviced daily. Food was excellent too and we loved that breakfast was served until late. All the staff were very friendly and attentive too.

United KingdomWe liked everything!! First it was a very traditional Mexican style building next to a beautiful square. Nothing touristic about the area but everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Over the weekends there were celebrations, market & music in the square. However the hotel inside was quiet and peaceful. The staff went above and beyond even taking us to the bus station on our departure. Breakfast was amazing and very well priced, we couldn’t believe the prices after travelling around different places in Mexico. We attended a wedding whilst there, they steamed and ironed our clothes. Writing this review I wish I was back there now. After a long 3 weeks in Mexico we spent our final day by the pool drinking margaritas. Service was wonderful l, polite and friendly. We already talked about going back. Kudos to the management and staff for an amazing stay and experience.

Location was perfect.

This is a little gem of a town we picked at the last minute...
This is a little gem of a town we picked at the last minute for the final leg of a 4-week driving tour of Veracruz state, flying in and out of Puebla. There was a lovely dance performance on Sunday night in the square and good food at Vittorio's there.

Hotel Esmeralda is a little gem tucked away in Atlixco.
Hotel Esmeralda is a little gem tucked away in Atlixco. We stayed for a family wedding but would happily have stayed for longer. There was a lovely clean, heated pool with relaxed seating and a very pleasant outdoor area for dinner and breakfast. The food was authentic Mexican and delicious and the service was attentive without being obtrusive. We would highly recommend a stay here.

The best place to eat in Atlixco the flavors of the land is at @lucia_1950_cocinadepueblo del @manuel_rosas90. Not to be missed. On Sundays there is a flower market in the main square and on Saturdays you must go to the market to see the colors and splendor of regional agriculture. Tochimilco is 10 min away, the best place to see the Popocatépetl and to eat at its market on Sunday.

This was a fantastic hotel, one of the best we've stayed at. Everything was clean and well thought out. It felt like someone well planned the room and property. Everything in the room (outlets, light switches, towels, etc) was easy to find. Everyone on staff was super nice. And the location was great, right on the main square. We stayed here for Dia de Muertos and we were able to see both parades from the balcony of our room. I don't think that's an option for every room in the hotel, but it was a nice bonus.

We have been here about ten times in the past number of years, rooms are always clean, We use the restaurant and have never had a bad meal. Yes it is a little expensive, but if you want to treat someone special for a relaxing time, it's one of the best hotels in Atlixco.
