Located in Sesriem, in Namib Desert, Desert Camp offers luxurious self-catering units, with private bathrooms. Only 3.1 mi away from Sossusvlei Lodge, it features an outdoor pool. Amazing place! We decided to add Sossusvlei into our Namibia itinerary last minute, and we are so glad we did! Desert Camp was one of few accomodation options in the area, but it did not disappoint. The grounds are secure, immaculate and very comfortable. Icy cold AC, perfect kitchen facilities and plenty of space. The shower was amazing and the room was stylish. The bed was very comfy as well! The pool and bar area were perfect for relaxing after a day of dune hikes. Staff were very helpful and friendly, and they give you a box of cooking items upon arrival that has everything you need for basic meals (plates, cutlery, pots and pans, cups etc). We also loved the short nature trail leading from the grounds up to the hill. Location is ideal, as close as you can get to the park gates. We had such a relaxing stay I would come back in a heartbeat! Note that wifi only works in the bar area, but it is quite fast. Side note, this has nothing to do with the hotel but just to keep in mind you are in the Namibian desert so keep the doors closed! We had a MASSIVE camel spider run right into our room when my husband opened the door one night - luckily we were able to get it out but it was quite the experience! LOL.

Neuhof Portion 2 Campground is located 33 mi East of Sesriem and 75 mi West from from Maltahohe on the C19. WiFi is available at a surcharge. fantastic little camp away from everything. We stayed 2 nights while visiting Sousosvlei etc. Definately to be recommended
The road in from Mariental (273Km) and out to Walvis Bay (315 Km) were sand/gravel, and in a poor shape for large portions. Other than that it was a great stay. 2 nights should be a minimum with at least one day to frolic in the dunes.
Accommodation in and around Sesriem and Sossusvlei is slightly on the expensive side for locals and South Africans. However, it is one of those things that you have to see and experience should you be able to travel the gravel roads of this vast country.
Great experiene with a challenging walk up to Big Daddy, the biggest dune in the canyon. We highly recommend everyone to walk up there, but plan at least 2 hours (how long it took us) for the hike and bring enough water. The view is stunning and the experience is great. Be aware, that you cannot drive until the very end of the canyon without a good 4x4 car, as the end of the street is sandy. We had a Toyota Hilux and had no problems to get there, however, we also reduced the pressure in our tires from 2.2 to 1.5 bar, which is also recommended! Have fun!
Although the roads are a bit challenging during the rainy season the scenery is unrivaled to anything that you have ever witnessed - especially for Namibians who knows the desert landscape it is awesome to see the desert full of water and in bloom as it was in January 2021.
Sossusvlei is of course the attraction. The scenery is breath taking, one can drive around or walk the dunes, it is in both cases a real sensation to be in the middle of the dessert. Be aware : it is hot, take sufficient water and sunblocker. One can only drive there with a real 4x4 car The road to Sossusvlei is in very good condition
The experience is no comparison to anywhere I have visited around the the world, and i have been to at least 80 countries. There's a feeling of humility, awe and fear all rolled up into one. My wife and I ended up climbing the tallest sand dune (Dune 7), and as hind sight looking at the seemingly formidable Dune 45 was not arduous at all. I am 66 yrs old, so I can confidently say everyone should experience this once in a lifetime climb..
Sesriem
The setting of We-Kebi is idyllic - grassland surrounded by mountains. Game inside (that does hide away!) Beautifully designed bungalows, helpful, kind, friendly staff. The food is prepared by a delightful chef, and it is delicious. We booked into We-Kebi as a stopover to Sesriem, so we only stayed one night. We could well have stayed longer to enjoy the peace and quiet.
