Love at first sight this town …. Very interesting place , people are friendly, should be named city of SMILE cuz everybody greet and smiles at u, Filipino like me that’s first time to visit this place is a dream come true cuz it’s once of a kind I’ve ever been before . Not enough my 1 week to explore . Definitely I will come back … feeling very safe in this place
This town has beautiful architecture, churches, street art, and historical sights. There also many unique shops and wide variety of restaurants. Try sampling the various cheeses, you will probably buy more than you can carry. There are many other sights of interest nearby, Gouda would make a nice base for the region.
We didn’t have much time to explore as we came for a friend’s birthday party but we had a couple of walks in the old town, really nice. We loved the architecture of the houses by the canals. Cheese is to die for!
very pretty tourist town, with beautiful historical church, and other buildings. Lots of great places to eat in the main town centre. Try and go when the cheese markets are on. the Stroop Koeke factory tour was also really great!
Gouda is a fascinating old dutch town. We took our time going through the 30 stations of the self-guided historic tour and thoroughly enjoyed learning about this small yet once very important merchant/trade town. The annual Beach Festival was going on during our visit and we got to watch some beach volleyball games on the market square (on sand that was brought in). Disappointingly, the Verzetsmuseum was closed (apparently being moved and re-conceptualized) but we could still soak up quite a lot of history--while tasting some great cheese, too! We missed the weekly cheese market, though. If you want to experience that, be sure to visit on a Thursday.
Fascinating and well-defined old town for those who are prepared to read up the available literature, which is not voluminous, and simply look around them at the multitude of fascinating historic buildings, nearly all of which are either lived in or used for various purposes. The choice of eating places was too large to have any list of preferences The inner, and old town, is essentially defined by a square canal system easily walked from one side to another in twenty minutes.
Gouda is a beautiful, beautiful city ideal for a short break or long weekend, and Betty Blue is the perfect place to spend it. Erwin and Jolanda have created an amazing place to stay. The recommendations for places to visit, to eat and to drink were well thought out and they should be commended for their choices (we loved Casa Chow, go there!). The room provided everything we needed, breakfast was generous, thoughtful and tasty; The bed was comfortable and the shower was great too. I may have discovered a new favourite city break location.
Gouda
Superb location for wandering around the centre of town. The accommodation is modern, clean and was spacious enough for our group (3 adults). Breakfast was excellent, really tasty freshly baked bread. We have stayed in Gouda several times over the past year, so have a feeling for what the town has to offer in regards to overnight accommodation, I can say without reservations that Tannery Lane was definitely our best experience.
This hotel has all the ingredients for a great stay in Gouda. Comfy beds, nice bathrooms, ours had a lovely bathtub for soaking away our muscle aches from a long bike ride. Also has secure overnight bike storage which was important to us. The breakfast is sufficient but very crowded although to be fair we stayed on a Friday night so should be expected that the hotel is fully booked on a May weekend.
Gouda
Very beautifully designed B&B. A unique experience taken care by a very lovely Dutch couple. Very warm hospitality and welcoming to Gouda. Good breakfast and more than enough amenities in the room/bathroom. Location is perfect, in the centre but quiet in the evening. Overall a greatly pleasant stay.
The room was clean and nice, it was not too big but big enough. The shower was big. Parking was available at the hotel. The room had an electric kettle with daily coffee, tea, cream, and biscuit. The hotel has a nice restaurant.
Very friendly and compentent staff and the hotel itself felt very clean and put together to the smallest details. If one would like their breakfast served to them, this is your hotel.
Very confortable cottage in the middle of the city oof Gouda. Full kitchen and Netflix are perfect, mostly on Covid period. The owner is really nice. We highly recommend it!
