The Netherlands is a melting pot of quirky charm, unparalleled nightlife and world-renowned art and culture. Cities filled with labyrinthine canal networks and countryside sprinkled with tulips and windmills create a never-ending demand for discovery. Amsterdam’s enchantingly narrow streets mingle with a maze of canals, coffee shops and a treasure trove of museums. It may not seem like it when you’re there, but the capital is actually made up of 90 islands connected by 1,500 bridges. Take a stroll down almost any street in the old medieval centre and you’ll encounter the iconically narrow canal houses which give the city its heartwarming character. Must-see sights include the masterpiece-adorned walls of the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, as well as the historic site of Anne Frank House. It’s also worth checking out the city’s picturesque green spaces such as Vondelpark. Outside the capital, you’ll find a wealth of other historic cities to explore, such as the fortified city of Utrecht, pottery hotspot of Delft and multicultural Maastricht. For futuristic architecture and nightlife that never seems to end, take a jaunt over to Rotterdam – the Netherlands’ second-biggest metropolis. The Netherlands has a huge variety of hotels, apartments and B&Bs, but if you’re after something a bit different, you can book a stay on a house boat or a traditional townhouse.
From the minute we walked into the hotel we loved the atmosphere. The staff at the reception desk were so friendly and helpful. In fact the staff all over the hotel from the bar staff to the cleaners to the Maintenance could be nicer. They would go out of their way to help us. Recommending places to visit to booking trains for us as one of our group needed a mobility scooter. Our rooms were big and spacious and very clean and comfortable. The area was very convenient as the station was only one stop away from Amsterdam Central station for sight seeing. Convenient shop and coffee shop near the hotel. The guest kitchen was great. Very clean and well looked after. Ideally for making a cuppa after a long day touring and then out to the bar for a cool drink..There was 7 of us in the group and everyone had a fantastic time at the Meininger Hotel city west. So much so I have it booked again for February next.
Great overall stay, clean and new facilities.
Location is only 2km away from redlight district and less to the musuems which are easily accessible by bike which you can also rent from hostel.
Also located directed next a beautiful big park that you can relax or use for exercise.
Staff were good, I left my iPad in the room after a rushed checkout and they organised a taxi to drop it off at Centraal station so I was able to make my train to Berlin.
Would definitely recommend and stay again
This property was clean and comfortable. The rooms very clean and well organized, everything works. The bar downstairs, nice staff, good food. And comfortable to hang out for drinks with friends or work on your laptop if need be. There is also an outdoor sitting area. and most of all, amazing location. I really enjoyed my stay.
Very good location, about 10min by free boat from Amsterdam Central, ensuit rooms, good breakfast included, amazing and very friendly staff, place is very clean! Would be staying there again when in Amsterdam!!
