Between Dutch Windmills and Flowers
The gateway to the Netherlands, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is one of the world’s busiest international passenger terminals and is home to the Dutch national airline – KLM.
The airport sits on reclaimed land around 3 metres below sea level on the site of a former huge inland lake. In fact, the name Schiphol may mean 'ship grave', a reference to the ships that would periodically be sunk in its turbulent waters.
A train station serving many Dutch cities lies beneath the terminal building which houses a mini Rijksmuseum exhibition, reference library with multilingual books, and plenty of shops selling the ubiquitous clogs, tulip bulbs and cheese.
Booking.com’s range of Schiphol Airport hotels includes several within the airport grounds. Others are in neighbouring Hoofddorp, a town also within the area of the former lake, whose De Eersteling windmill overlooks a dike encircling a former fort.
Another windmill – the Molen van Sloten – is across a canal from Badhoevedorp on the airport’s north side. To the east the huge Amsterdamse Bos forest is a haven of peace and tranquillity (apart from the occasional aircraft!) and borders Amstelveen. To the south-west is Aalsmeer, a town set on the huge Westeinderplassen Lake, and whose massive flower auction house receives daily consignments from all over the world.

When we arrived our room was ready, however, they have baggage storage area available for those that would like to leave and explore Amsterdam or go inside the airport shopping and eating area. The staff instructed us on how use the train ticket system and told us which station to travel too to see old Amsterdam. Well this made it so easy and it was very affordable to travel. We spent several hour in Old Amsterdam and it was an amazing city, wish i would have scheduled one more day for us there.

Schiphol is one of the largest airports in Europe and equally confusing. The signage is terrible. We were told to get to the airport three hours before flight time and it took MORE THAN THREE HOURS TO GET THROUGH THE maize of security checks, passport control and merchandize declarations. we were two minutes late for our boarding and they wouldn't let us board

A beautiful city and I love exclusivity of the Hotels around...
A beautiful city and I love exclusivity of the Hotels around the Airport, the free shuttle Buses to and from the Airport makes vacation so easy and less expensive. Very friendly people also. I love the shot time I spent at the KLM Training Facility Schipol and will surely return during my next vacation and Training.

Easy to connect using the train system. There is a large mall like area outside of security. It has various bars and restaurants. There are shops including a grocery store.

It's a huge airport, plan ahead and make sure you have enough time to do your things. If you're traveling to or from outside the EU, processes take even longer. The staff is normally very friendly and will help you with a nice smile, that is reasuring.

“This is Holland” is a must do in Amsterdam.
“This is Holland” is a must do in Amsterdam. It was the highlight of my trip. The canal rides were nice. I took a bus tour to see the holland shoe factory. The people are friendly. I felt safer in Amsterdam than any place I’ve traveled and I’m a female traveling solo. The food was my favorite of any our country also. Eat the food! Try new things! I stayed at the airport and road the train back and forth each day for 5.50 each way. Super easy.

The Sheraton Hotel at Schiphol was a very comfortable place to stay and made our early morning flight much more relaxed and enjoyable thanks to its perfect airport location.
A special thank you to **Merel at the reception desk**, who made our stay truly outstanding with her kindness, professionalism, and excellent customer focus. She was warm, helpful, and made us feel genuinely welcome.
Our room was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. The beds were especially comfortable, and we had a great night’s sleep.

Very good price for Amsterdam, it’s not going to be the most luxury hotel for the price but the room was clean and comfortable, and parking is included. I’ve seen people in the reviews complaining about the distance from Amsterdam centre, but it’s actually not that bad - one bus for 15 minutes and a connecting bus for 20 minutes, both buses running regularly, or the 15 minutes train from Schiphol airport. If you can’t pay central prices, it’s worth the minor hassle.

This is a great hotel if you have an early flight from the Schiphol airport and you'd like to sleep closeby. The hotel is easily accessible by the shuttle from the airport, and the same shuttle also takes you back tot he airport.
