The Netherlands in a Nutshell
As the green heart of the Netherlands, the Veluwe features typical Dutch landscapes ranging from wetland to woodland to inland sand dunes. It centres on the country’s most popular national park, Hoge Veluwe - a haven for wildlife including birds, deer and wild boar.
As well as offering cycling, horseriding and walking, the 5,400-hectare park houses the excellent Kröller-Müller Museum featuring the world’s 2nd largest Van Gogh collection, and an eclectic sculpture garden. Other Hoge Veluwe museums include the Jachthuis Sint Hubertus, a Kröller family residence designed by Berlage, the architect behind Amsterdam’s Beurs.
Some of the closest Veluwe B&Bs are in Arnhem, well-known for its role in World War II. This green city on the Rhine proudly remembers its past, but also looks to the future with its state-of-the-art GelreDome events venue. To the west is the university town of Wageningen with its beautiful botanical gardens, while neighbouring Ede is situated by a lush forest.
In the north of Veluwe is Harderwijk, a pretty lakefront town with a popular dolphinarium. Monkeys and apes can roam free in Apenheul zoo in Apeldoorn, a city that also boasts a children’s amusement park and the stately palace and landscaped gardens of Het Loo Palace, a former royal residence. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our family of 4 (2 teens). The service was impeccable. Genuinely caring and thoughtful staff. Knowledgeable about the surroundings, food and wines.
We had drinks in the lounge with a roaring fire and there were boardgames to play.
The head-chef is such a great human. Spent time talking to our family about the wildlife and accommodated to our daughters on food.
The rooms were well appointed. Slightly warm for our taste but was easily adjustable.
The surrounding grounds are well kept, with great walking paths. There are bikes on site as well. There is a great pool (1.40) that is heated to 28 degrees. We didn't swim in it as there was a storm, but we would have gladly done so otherwise. The poolhouse allows for changing right next to the pool and in the summer months they serve light snacks there as well.
We will definitely come back!

The hotel has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere surrounded by beautiful woodland. It really feels like a peaceful retreat.. Our room was clean, cosy and full of character with a lovely view of the gardens. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of fresh options and a lovely setting overlooking the gardens. Even though we only stayed one night, it was a memorable experience, the kind of place that makes you want to come back for a longer stay next time. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful, family-friendly hotel with real Dutch charm.

Harold was very very nice, he welcomed us when we arrived, gave us a grand tour of the place and was also very responsive to all our needs during the stay.
The location is great, right in the middle of a forest, but a 5-10 minute drive from many stores and restaurant.
Also a very good location for visiting the Eastern part of the Netherlands.
The house has everything you need: a kitchen, a washer/dryer, games, an ironing board, etc.

A nature escape, in the middle of the forest. The accommodation was clean, just like in the picture. Considering the size, it was well equipped and comfortable. It was quiet and safe for the kids. The check in and out procedures were smooth. The floor heating was nice, especially when all the clothes were wet from de rain. We rented bikes from them and explored Velp. The girls from reception were really helpful.

Villa de Berken is located in the countryside some 5km from the centre of Ede. The town is larger than anticipated and has excellent a wide range of shops and supermarkets. A wide range of sporting activities and keep fit centres are spread around the town, which has a railway station offering a link to the main system and several connections to the Snelweg (motorway) network. Being located in the centre of the Netherlands, if is an ideal base for those wishing to explore the countries wide-spread attractions.

Hoenderloo is a nice little town that exists for tourists, visiting De Veluwe. There are wonderful restaurants, a pancake house, a specialty schnitzel restaurant and many more places to eat and terraces. There is a very nice park where they have a market every Wednesday and bike trips are organized by the locals.
There is one supermarket, the Spar, but they have EVERYTHING. Very nice, clean and organized.

The area offers a perfect mix of nature and typical Dutch scenery – from peaceful green landscapes and historic buildings to stunning tulip fields stretching as far as the eye can see.
