This lovely hotel is situated in a beautiful little town, and we found it to be a real gem.
The staff were fantastic, the room amazing and had a beautiful view over the Dutch countryside. The outside tented area was excellent along with the service, from start to finish.
Great care is taken in all aspects of this superb hotel. The breakfast is worth the price alone.
Tips:
- For a lovely evening meal with a good atmosphere, try the Café Restaurant ‘t Knooppunt. It’s a 5 minute walk away.
- After your breakfast, a stroll into the village is very much recommended.

Small hotel located in the center of a small country village. Hotel has a very nice restaurant. Super friendly staff. Dinner was good. Excellent breakfast, they inquire what you like to eat and bring what you wish to your table. Enough free parking area around the hotel. The single room no 1 is a bit small, but enough for a short stay. My bathroom was a modern new bathroom. Access stair to 1st floor is a bit steep, but for those in need there is an elevator chair. It was a warm summer night, but luckily my room had airco. Great location for hiking or biking.

I recently stayed at this hotel and was genuinely pleased. The location is excellent, placing everything I needed within easy reach. The service was attentive, with the staff going out of their way to ensure a comfortable stay. I’d highly recommend booking here—especially for the remarkably comfortable mattresses. ;-)

For us it was the location next to the speedway which we...
For us it was the location next to the speedway which we found noisy. We could handle two nights...with earplugs! We had two dinners in the evening and they were delicious. The staff in the dining area was very professional and very pleasant...thank you!
My family was visiting from Canada and we went to camp Westerbork one day and the quaint village of Orvelta the next, all very close driving distance to the hotel.

Meppel is a really nice town in Drenthe.
Meppel is a really nice town in Drenthe. Come here for a taste of the real Netherlands - well away from the tourists.
There are a few museums, boats to look at (as everywhere!), lots of cafes and restaurants (don't miss Sardinia in the town square), but the best thing to do is just wander the streets soaking up the atmosphere.

Emmen is a beautiful city with a lot to see and do.
Emmen is a beautiful city with a lot to see and do.
Wildlands is always worth a visit and seeing the hunebeds.
The Atlas theatre always has something going on and worthwhile going to.
Thijs and Co is a great place to eat and they often have live music.
The Brasserie is another great place to eat with great food.
Shops are also open on the last Sunday of the month so you can do extra shopping.

Diever is a nice small town with several restaurants, a supermarket, a very good bakery and several other shops. It is close to Drents Friese Wold, a large nature reserve with options for biking (bike rental available in town) and walking. Biking routes are well indicated based on way points.

The restaurants were top notch, food excellent and service exceptional anywhere we went. Many bars and restaurants to visit and walking around at night feels really safe and the center is like a fairytale village.

Wildlands is a great park! Also there was an impressive street market on Tuesday. The vibe of the town is very chill and friendly!

Drenthe is the most 'silent' province of the Netherlands and Assen, being its capital, offers the facilities you may need for a stay. Some parts of the city are particularly attractive: the forest 'Asser Bos' and the part of the city between that forest, the canel Drentse Hoofvaart, and the railway station.

I stayed there overnight, the entrance for the hotel I had trouble finding, but the receptionist came downstairs and helped me find the place. Great friendly staff, and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend to stay.
