The location was perfect, no affordable hotel like this is placed where everything can be reached with a few minutes of walking. The staff was really helpful and kind and the room was clean and organized. It exceeded my expectations!

Absolutely loved our stay here. Would definitely recommend to others. Room was comfortable since we weren't in it that much, too much to do and see. Breakfast was perfect and a great start to the day. Customer service was excellent.

Awesome hotel room. Spacious, clean, quiet, ample parking, lovely furniture, and good amenities. Love the 'fireplace' in the room. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay again when we visit the area.

Groningen is a vibrant student city, we’ve been coming and going for 4 years. Lovely town with many great corners, activities, restaurants and bars, pretty good shopping too. Great fresh food markets. Good cultural offerings. Fantastic university! A bit far out north, which can be a curse or a blessing. It can be a long way to Amsterdam or any other airport at the weekends, while it allows students to stay around

It's a village - a day or two should be enough to explore.
It's a village - a day or two should be enough to explore. It's beautiful: the canals, churches, the streets and the characteristic houses are wonderful. Smiling locals greeting you, the cafes and restaurants so cozy and homey.
There are walking / cycling routes in the area which are great as well - the route to Maarhuizen is one I would definitely recommend.

Downside breakfast poor, advised re allergies and fir gluten free for one of the party but unable to accommodate.
In many a hotel when requested milk in our own drinking cup so that we can give our daughter her medication, we have never been charged for such but not here, charged more than a litre would have cost at the shop. They didn't even have any equipment to clean.
Some of the butter was out of date, staff informed but not taken away.
Had dessert but quite expensive for what we got. Disappointed

Mostly pedestrian friendly all within easy walking distance. Delightful Carilion playing it's bells throughout the day lent charm and atmosphere. A range of shops from opticians and hairdressers to hardware and toys plus restaurants and bars. Seemed a lively night life on the Pentacostal weekend.
Streets were clean - a little graffiti - and felt safe to stroll around at night.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Bourtange.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Bourtange. It’s a very beautiful historic village within the walls of a fort. Very peaceful and quiet as my visit was in early spring. I had an excellent meal at ‘s Lands Huys.

If you are looking for a quiet but animated city, Groningen is your place to go. If you love architecture, Groningen is an amazing destination. If you love shopping, if you love parcs, Groningen has them all. This city is love at first sight. It's a real jewel, the diamond of the north!

Bourtange is a wonderful example of a Seventeenth Century star fort. There are lots of interesting features to explore and discover. The two bar/restaurants in the centre provide excellent meals and drinks.

The town is easy to negotiate. The people very friendly. Such a pretty city full of surprises. The forum was lovely and the Cafe there had delicious food. Willem Albert had amazing food as did the Drie Gezusters.
