Location near train station, on a public square and nestled between canals was convenient and interesting. Lots of restaurants, windmills and canal tours. University and museums are also close by.
A pro and a con: the corner outside the hotel seemed to be the epicenter of soccer semi finals celebration!

We loved the large room with the sitting area, since we were here for a week. We loved looking out our three front-facing windows onto the little street below, the canal, the bridge over the canal and a small park on the other side of the canal.
The bed was very comfortable, and they staff was friendly and helpful.
I liked the surrounding areas but it was heavy rains.
I liked the surrounding areas but it was heavy rains. Couldn't walk around. Very sad. The check in staff are friendly and helpful. Service oriented and professional. The bed was clean and comfortable. Smart TV. I can watch my Chinese drama on YouTube. The breakfast was okay. The dinner was 3-5 courses meals and no à la carte menu. A bit disappointing. Overall it is a beautiful hotel. It's nice for those who enjoy nature, hiking and walking.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel to stay, this hotel is excellent.
In my opinion the room i was in was small and for me, it was too small for 2 people.
The service staff we dealt with over 18, 19 & 20 October were helpful and tried their best to address any concerns raised.

Oesgstgeest is a great place to stay if you are looking to visit Leiden, The Hague and Utrecht. To be honest I don't know much about the town itself, which is more like a suburban neighbourhood between Leiden and Utrecht than an actual travel destination.

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding at the castle.
We stayed here as we were attending a wedding at the castle. The castle itself and most of the grounds were beautiful and well kept, no complaints there. However, the accommodation is another story. The room itself was nicely appointed but very small, there was absolutely no ventilation other than 1 window which opened a short way, no air-conditioning or extractor fan in the bathroom or toilet. On the day of the wedding it was 30degC. The room was serviced daily, that was fine but the milk/coffee/tea was not replenished in the 5 days we stayed so ran out after day one, requests for more fell on deaf ears. There was a door to the garden area where you could sit, however the grounds around here were unweeded and scruffy and littered, so not pleasant. There were a couple of times we asked reception for assistance, all very helpful at the time, but the assistance never eventuated. Seems they are more concerned with the functions and the accommodation is just an add on secondary service. The food in the restaurant was okay, nothing special. The outside eating area could have done with a good tidy up too. Really disappointed and wished we hadn't been stuck there for so long.
We found Oegstgeest to be a good location to base ourselves enabling us to visit Amsterdam, Utrecht and other nearby towns easily
Parking was not an issue There were many vacant street parking bays near the property
We wanted to visit Amsterdam and Utrecht and chose to take the train The train station was only a 15 min walk to Leiden
We had an issue at one stage with the power going off but the host was on to it straight away to ensure it was rectified
The host was very accommodating
Breakfast was amazing. Beds are extremely comfortable. Stuff is very polite and professional, especially young blond lady on the reception, don't know her name unfortunately. Bathroom is also very modern and practical. Location is great, with free parking. Hotel is also dog friendly, which was the reason why we chose it on the first place.
The concept of this hotel is sweet, the reality a little different. The room had the rustic built-in single beds typical of the period - which wasn't clear form the booking, yet my initial claustrophobia waned as I settled in.
Bed was large and extremely comfortable, had a fantastic rest.
The staff were all very helpful and pleasant, Hotel offer a free drink voucher to each guest
