We went for a weekend trip with family to visit Efteling and we did not expect much but wow, what a place. In the middle of the forest, next to a garden and field with horses. The hotel is in the old building next to a chappel, it's perfect in it's imperfections. If you are a fan on local, cozy and sightly magical vibe, you will feel at home.

We were travelling for a wedding. Booked a hotel across the street, but made a booking for 1 night instead of 2. Had to reallocate to Mercure. I went to ask a day before our check-in if we could store the luggage there ( because of the ceremony the next day) but the lovely lady at the reception told me they weren’t fully booked and we could have the room early on the check-in date ( she would let her colleagues know) and we could get all dressed up for the wedding in the room (instead of a storage room or similar). I was so surprised ( positively) I got goosebumps. Unfortunately, I don’t remember this receptionists name, but I’d like to send her a ‘Thank you’ and let her know this proactivity was very unexpected for this day and age. If someone is reading this from the hotel management, be aware you have a great empathetic person working for you :)
