Located in Methven in the Canterbury region, Snow Denn Lodge provides accommodations with free WiFi and free private parking. The owners were so so lovely and I felt very at home at the hostel. The place was kept sparkling clean and the location was ideal for skiing as all shuttles to and from the ski field and to and from Christchurch would stop right outside. The shower facilities were really good and so was the kitchen. A large and comfortable living space was perfect for crashing after a day on the slopes. Both the supermarkets, restaurants, and the cinema are within 5 minutes walk away, and they have space to dry clothes from the mountain and to store your skis. Little details like a small shelf and 2 charging ports per bunk was also great. Methven and Snow Denn are wonderful! Thank you for a lovely week!
Featuring an outdoor pool, Southern Cross Lodge Methven in Methven has accommodations with free WiFi and free private parking for guests who drive. The Lady who was running the place when we were there was very friendly and helpful. We made a booking for our friends at 8.30pm and rang them to organise it and had the keys left out for our friends to pick up

Friendly and welcoming staff. Wonderful dining experience. Warm crackling fire great food and wine and warm cosy accommodation after a good day what more can you ask for. The views are pretty amazing too.

There is a shop opposite the Four Square it looks like a second hand store, Its a coffee shop, I had the best omelet on toast I have ever had and the coffee was amazing. The shop owner was upbeat and awesome. We also ate the souvlaki from beside the blue pub. The best souvlaki I have ever had. AMAZING
Nice and easy drive, not too far from Christchurch. Some good pubs and a few restaurants to choose from. Hot pools were pretty slick, can't think of many other places in the south island that offer a swim up bar! The Irish pub is also worth a visit, great staff and tasty food
Interesting little town that is getting bigger by the day. Pubs are usual country pubs with lots of character. Outdoor seating was good, food was good. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Shops were open for us to check out. Pool was great even without the upgrade they gave us. On our list to come back. Hotair balloon next trip
Beautiful scenery , loved being around the mountain views , love the area as it felt like home , a place where you can relax, chill out and it is very family orientated and a holiday theme town for a vacation for the family and your children , will recommended to those who have children , family members and will return with my husband and our daughter and children and his kids too ,
Great base for a Mt Hutt ski holiday. Good selection of restaurants but be careful to check out which nights they are open (as some close Monday / Tuesday). Booking also recommended however as we were visiting in Aug (2021) this wasn't an issue as there were very few tourists owing to COVID.
Great little town for Mount Hutt skiing. Big Als is great for ski hire. We used Methven transport to get up the mountain. Greatm service. Mount Hutt is small ski field, not too busy, no queues (we were there out of school holidays) Very friendly and great fun.
The staff were fantastic, so friendly, welcoming and helpful. I was travelling alone and didn’t know the area so it was brilliant to have such fantastic staff. The location was perfect for skiing too, the Methven Shuttle Bus stops right outside to take you up to Mt Hutt ski area which is so handy- makes it v easy. Food was excellent too so didn’t need to look anywhere else for somewhere great to eat. Highly recommend staying here!
We came down and all stayed at the resort for an 18th birthday party, we had a fabulous stay and couldn't fault anything. We were nothing but a head ache for the staff and especially Suzie with the usual drama of organising 40.people but she has the patience of a Saint and just sorted everything. Thanks Methven Resort, we will be back😊
The location of the Cedar Chalets is perfect. It is situated on the main road not far at all from Methven town. the chalet was huge for our family (4 people). It had a log burner and a smart TV and the chalet already had wood there for you to use. Highly recommend and we would stay here again.
Apparently the hotel shouldn't have been open that day (booking.com mistake?) but the staff (one man) was so incredibly nice and accommodating. We had the whole place almost to ourselves and were treated so well and felt pampered. Fantastic experience. Breakfast was great too.
On the outskirts of town so very quiet. Facilities were good with washing machine in guest laundry and an external clothes line as well as driers. Room was comfy. As it was off peak not a lot of people around - Methven is a ski town. Lovely mountains around the town
The property was clean, comfortable and warm. It was an easy walk to the centre of Methven. The owner was helpful and informative. We had intended to stay in Fox Glacier but the road was closed so we had an enforced route change. This was booked at short notice.
The staff/owners were extremely accomodating and made sure all our needs were catered for. This hotel is in the best location in town!
We enjoyed our stay at the farm so much, that we extended our stay.😊 Please see the review "Methven's Holmestead Farm Gem"
Great location and a great room with its ensuite. Met some great fellow guests. Close to the supermarkets and hotels.
The host was awesome, friendly and even dropped us off at the pub to watch the rugby.
classic country pub close to some good skiing. No frills but none expected.
location - easy access to town, pubs, restaurants and ski hire
Walking distance to Main Street pubs and restayrabts
Friendly and welcoming staff. Wonderful dining experience. Warm crackling fire great food and wine and warm cosy accommodation after a good day what more can you ask for. The views are pretty amazing too.
Well located for trips into the Canterbury high country. Apartment is well insulated so did not need to use heating despite cold nights for this time of year. Very quiet.
Great location for two families of four
Friendly staff. Clean and warm.
