Hotel D'Alcoutim features a restaurant, seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a bar and shared lounge in Alcoutim. We have stayed at this hotel last year and will definitely return. It is very well run the staff are friendly and efficient. The manager even helped get us an emergency dental appointment as we don’t speak much Portuguese. They are managing the Covid 19 protocols very well we felt very safe. The rooms have a very calm colour scheme the beds are huge and the air conditioners are excellent. Our room opened onto the garden which has a beautiful pool with fabulous views onto the river. They don’t have a restaurant as such but the bar serves delicious salads and other snacks up until 2200. The river beach in Alcoutim is beautiful and we had a really good lunch there of freshly barbecued sword fish and chicken. The castle is also worth a visit and there are lots of places to eat and drink in the town all with lovely views onto the river where you can watch the boats go by.

Offering fantastic views of the River Guadiana, Los Molinos is located in Sanlúcar de Guadiana, on the Portuguese border. It offers air-conditioned accommodations with free WiFi and great views. We had a wonderful stay, the views are phenomenal from both our bedroom and bathroom. Every day the room was cleaned and looked amazing, and we were really sad to go! The facilities included a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with a shared living area with a large fridge, sink, gas top, kettle and coffee machine. We are so happy to have chosen to stay here!
Located in Sanlúcar de Guadiana, a 5-minute walk from Santo António Chapel and 500 yards from Alcoutim Castle, Casa Casiopea Elegante y exótica Perfecta para una escapada en pareja offers free WiFi, a... This studio has everything you need for a great weekend in a cozy Spanish village on the river. It was really well renovated and decorated with amazing taste. Dolores, the hostess, was very nice and helped us with any info needed during our stay. Highly recommend it!
Featuring garden views, La Carbonera provides accommodations with a terrace and a balcony, around a 5-minute walk from Santo António Chapel. The house is perfect! It’s a beautiful house in a perfect location in the village. Sonia was a great host and gave us lots of tips of places to eat. The terrace was a perfect place to watch the sun go down(see photo). The apartment is new and super clean and beds are very comfortable.

Alcoutim is a place good for rest and have some activities. Near to Algarve beaches and near to Spain is a nice place to stay, but Managers should pay more atention and be able to do more to increase the profits.
A nice little village in the inner part of Algarve, close to the Spanish border. There isn't much to do there, but if you are looking for a place to get some rest away from everything, you will find it in Alcoutim. It gets HOT on Summer days, locals said it also gets COLD in Winter. There are some monuments worth a visit, there are a handful of restaurants, there are some river activities. There is only a very small groceries shop, there are no supermarkets.
If you’re looking for a quiet, clean hotel with a good pool and great view over river Guadiana, that’s the place to go. The area might be to hot during the summer pick (July, Aug) so, maybe is better to visit in May, October with moderate temperatures. The surroundings and river banks are bucolic and at some points mesmerizing. You can easily visit other interesting cities: Mértola (a must) and Vila Real 35km south close to Algarve warmest beaches.
We only visited Alcoutim for the zip wire attraction. Zip wire experience very poor, staff were surly and not helpful. Refused to refund me when they refused to let me undertake activity as previously booked. Website looks professional but not very clear. Restaurants in village were closed, what was open had very limited menu options.
It is a small city. You can take the boat to Spain. It is also very cheap on both sides. You also have to take the zip line from Spain to Portugal, but check first, not open all year around, and in the season not everyday.
This cute little town offers some typical Portugese bars and folks are generally friendly. Take the time to hike a bit. Ride the Ferry to Sanlucar de Guadiana. If you can handle it ride the zipline across the border (river). Relax and enjoy the scenery.
This is a beautiful location on the banks of the river Guadiana. The hotel is fresh, spacious, and very comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the river was delightful. The staff also deserve mention for their friendly and helpful disposition.
The town of Alcoutim was a neat place to visit
