It was my birthday and my husband and the stuff sneaked into room during breakfast and decorated room with balloons, champagne and a piece of cake! That was such a cool surprise! Appreciate that! We had huge room with large balcony and sea view. The restaurant on the second floor was OUTSTANDING! I mean we took 2 sets and that was absolutely unbelievable experience, we have been to a lot of places but this one has formed such a memory! Also the smell at the hotel is charming

Lovely hotel miles from anywhere so if you like peace and quiet this is the place to go. Very polite and helpful staff. Great food in the restaurant, plenty of choices.Wonderful apartment overlooking the ocean and fantastic views all round. Indoor pool and sauna very good and even used outdoor pool..though a tad chilly in January! great location for walks and there's a courtesy bus to Calheta and the rum distillery...all in all a great holiday.

Beautiful and interesting place. The cottage was really cozy and well equipped. Great restaurant at the top of the very steep vineyard. Can also recommend a visit to Pukiki Tiki Bar a few blocks down the road. Look forward to come back.

We've had the most amazing week at the flaghouse. The house exceeded all our expectations. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat, To be able to wake up to the view of the ocean every day was so special. Cristina was a wonderful host and we are so lucky to have been able to spend our holiday in her beautiful home ❤️. A perfect house on the most beautiful island you could imagine.

The property has a great view of the ocean and everything you need for a comfortable stay. We were 2 families with kids and stayed there for 7 days. Everything was perfect! The location is very close to the calheta beach with lot of restaurants and we could relax there almost every evening after our day trips.

The design and attention to detail was incredible. Really well thought through. There is everything you need, comfy bed, enough shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, different type of drinks and even plasters :) There is a folder with all the information. The host wasn't there but communication was great, she messaged me in WhatsApp prior to our arrival and throughout.

Pretty and quaint little town.

Pretty and quaint little town. December may not be the best time to visit due to unpredictable weather. People in the Calheta restaurants may not be particularly friendly but in the city are more friendly. The beaches are not equipped for walking around or swimming as the waves are really rough. Best for hiking trails and sea food.

Calhetta itself is small and the main part of it centres...

Calhetta itself is small and the main part of it centres around the harbour. As you might expect this means that all the major activities are boat-based such as whale and dolphin watching, sailing, fishing, excursions etc. but there are also lots of restaurants and bars overlooking the harbour where you can get a great meal - especially if you like fish - or just relax for the evening and watch the sunset.

If you are going to stay here, be sure to have a car so that you can explore the island. The Fish Factory is a wonderful restaurant a short walk from the property and the local bakery is highly recommended too.

The house is ideal for a longer stay and offers everything you need. The kitchen is equipped with high-quality appliances, including a dishwasher, microwave, and stove, making cooking a pleasure. Outside, there is a grill, and there are even spices, coffee, sugar, tea, and dishwasher tabs available – simply great! There was really nothing we missed. The same goes for the bathroom and the bedroom, which is furnished with bed linens and extra blankets. Particularly noteworthy is the heating, which is not always standard in Madeira. Since we were there in February and the weather was not optimal, the heating was a real lifesaver, as we had already arrived with a flue. The house is located on a hill, so a car is definitely necessary, but the view is breathtaking. Georgiana was an excellent host. Upon our arrival, the kitchen table was set with gifts, ranging from sweets to Madeira wine. She checked in with us daily to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. Overall, we had a very pleasant two-week stay and can warmly recommend the house to anyone interested.

The west side of the island is much more authentic and less...

The west side of the island is much more authentic and less commercial/crowded than the region around Funchal. it's definitely worth visiting if you like nature and meeting the local people. There are small local shops ( Zig-zag for instance) and bars where we can discuss with the people from the island ( who are not there just for the holidays but all year long). There are cattle everywhere, it's really nice.

Since we rented a car for our holiday in Madeira, we wanted to stay outside of Funchal itself, and Calheta is an excellent option. The apartment’s location is ideal as a base for exploring the island. Parking in front of the apartment is definitely a great advantage, and the host, Manuela, was extremely kind and professional. In my experience, the apartment may be a bit too small for three people, but for two guests it offers all the necessary amenities and enough space.

The host is very kind and caring. Ricardo made our stay very special, comfortable and authentic. We arrived in the evening and he left us some snacks to eat, gave his recommendations and assisted us along the stay. The house is well equipped and maintained. The view is beyond expectations! I will definitely come back! Calheta is a quiet and pleasant town with a great send beach.

The space by the pools is nicely furnished. The hotel is located right next to a sandy beach. A spacious balcony in the room. The restaurant (Onda Azul) had delicious food. It's just a pity that there is no possibility to use it after staying for a short time, because you need to reserve a table 24 hours in advance.

Loved the large included breakfast with many options. The view was amazing, the hotel atmosphere was top notch, with multiple restaurant options all looking out over the water and a stunning infinity pool to use. The beach bar across the road was also a great place to relax and soak up the sun.
