Absolutely loved our stay – felt like a second home! Everything was spotless, cozy, and welcoming—truly no complaints. From the moment we arrived, it just felt right. We were greeted with a bottle of wine, which was the perfect way to kick off the holiday after a flight. We’d asked for a couple of extra duvets since we're used to sleeping under separate ones—didn’t end up needing them, but the staff handled the request quickly and without fuss. Special shoutout to Filipe—what a legend! From the first moment, he showed us around and instantly felt more like a friend than a hotel staff member. He went above and beyond, even making us personalized lists of restaurants and places to check out. We didn’t make it to all of them, so we’re already saving some spots for next time. Hope to see him again on our next visit! The room had everything: bathrobes, slippers, ironing board with iron, coffee machine, teapot, hairdryer—you name it. Our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels, and honestly, that made it feel like a 5-star experience. Nothing beats coming back to a spotless room after a long day out exploring. And the cherry on top - the hotel has the coziest rooftop ever—perfect for sipping wine, reading a book, or just soaking in the sun. Loads of comfy seating and sunbeds.

I liked very much the rooftop restaurant where the breakfast is also served. The breakfast was abundant and of good quality. Freshly pressed orange juice is also served for breakfast. I liked very much the gym and spa facilities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Early check-in was also possible. The location is excellent. The room was huge and also the interior height of the room was very high. There was USB port next to the bed to charge the mobile phone. The hallway is also very spatious with lots of natural light and sofas to rest.

Faro is the picturesque capital of the Algarve region, offering colourful streets and buildings, Moorish influence, and typical Portuguese charm. It is encompassed by the lagoon of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and offers wide beaches, a laid-back atmosphere, and a vibrant nightlife.

Occupied by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, and once an important Roman harbour and Moorish culture capital, it was almost flattened by the 1755 earthquake. Happily, the historic centre survived and is today one of best preserved in Algarve. Choosing a hotel in Faro’s Old Town will allow you to have a more authentic Portuguese experience.

The long, sandy beach of Praia de Faro is 7 km from the city, and the beach on Barreta Island –also known as Deserta - is probably the most tranquil in the region. The city is small, and including time spent in church's and...

The city is small, and including time spent in church's and museums, I only needed one or two days to see everything fully, but it was lovely sitting in gardens and coffee shops, enjoying people watching. I also joined a day tour up the coast to see the caves, which was amazing, and a great opportunity to meet other solo travellers.

Faro isn't a great destination for tourists.

Faro isn't a great destination for tourists. It's a normal working city and not where you want to find yourself when it's hot. As cities go it's quite run down in a lot of areas and doesn't have a lot to offer. On Sunday especially it felt as though the whole city had been abandoned. Things were closed and boarded up and there just wasn't anyone around. Use Faro airport but be sure to base yourself somewhere prettier with great local beaches within walking distance of the old town - like Lagos.

People were very friendly and the city is very clean.

People were very friendly and the city is very clean. The ferry to Farol takes around 50min and then beach there is great. Pack a sun umbrella as there is no shade. The bars there only take cash. Busses also only take cash. Highly recommend Chelsea cafe (superb selection of cakes and staff are fluent in English) and camelo cafe very cheap food and drinks but only accepts cash).

Faro is a good place to rent a car in and go to see other places. The city at itself is dirty, neglected and not interesting at all. There is much more to see in Algarve and Faro is just the worse of it.

The old town is beautiful.

The old town is beautiful. There are plenty of inside and outside restaurants and bars to choose from. Be sure that you take sensible Flat shoes as the cobbled streets are quite treacherous! There is a naughty train that will take you around the area. My favourite bar was the roof Terrace of the Occidental hotel overlooking the Marina. Our hotel the ‘AP senses’ overlooking the Marina was exceptionally good.

Faro has a small but interesting old town.

Faro has a small but interesting old town. There are lots of cafes bars and restaurants to cater for different tastes and budgets. It is a great base to explore the surrounding areas with good transport links and super cheap and efficient Uber.

A real oasis to chill at for our last day in Portugal, in advance to an early flight the next day. Close to airport, taxi to there can be arranged (and paid) upfront. Loves the interior, the design is spotless and all accents and details are on point. Nice terrace, swimming pool and SPA facility (fitness bike, jacuzzi, sauna). Service was great. Kitchen offers a variety of drinks, snacks and meals so you really don’t need to go anywhere.

Hotel Faro is in a brilliant position with views over the marina. It was ideal as we came in on a bus and left on a train both ten minutes walk away. Everything was clean comfortable and modern. We especially enjoyed the roof top bar and views. As usual in Portugal staff were exceptional Welcoming and helpful. With an excellent breakfast included the price was fantastic value for money.

Great location and the hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The nicest stay I’ve had in Portugal and I wish we could have stayed here longer! The hotel is decorated beautifully, the rooms are immaculate and the pool is lovely. The hotel is also conscious of sustainability which was a nice feature. The staff are so friendly and accommodating.
