This a great hotel. Newly renovated using beautiful materials, it is so comfortable and lovely. The location is perfect: it's in a quiet area so sleeping is no problem, but every tourist site is just a short walk away. There is a lovely terrace on the top of the building with a great view. We stayed in a hotel-type room but they have a larger two-bedroom apartment-type room for longer stays Getting to meet the owner was a real treat. He is so proud of the hotel, and rightly so. The building has been in his family for many generations and he lovingly renovated it and did a great job. Plus, he is so welcoming, we feel like we made a new friend. We liked Faro but loved Solar Mendoca.

The staff were all amazing. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay as wonderful as possible. The suite was spacious, the bed was so comfortable, and it was located in such a convenient area that we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. Faro has a small but interesting old town.

Faro has a small but interesting old town. There are lots of cafes bars and restaurants to cater for different tastes and budgets. It is a great base to explore the surrounding areas with good transport links and super cheap and efficient Uber.

Friends and I spent five nights in a lovely self-catering apartment in Faro. Our apartment was an easy walk from the Marina, the Old Town and the pedestrianised shopping streets. For mid-June, we found Faro surprisingly relaxed and although bustling, not annoyingly busy. We found the entire town centre easily walkable and filled our days with a combination of sightseeing, window shopping and boat trips to Farol Island and into the lagoon. The myriad of restaurants and coffee shops offers a wide range of food - everything from Starbucks to Asian and Pizza, but best and tastiest of all, genuine Portuguese cuisine.

We stayed 3 nights.

We stayed 3 nights. Faro is a bit of a sleepy town, but lots to see still in the daytime. We took a ferry to Praia de Faro, went to both the Municipal Market and a small farmer's market near the Chapel of Bones (this Chapel was the only thing we didn't get a chance to see as it was closed for a funeral the day we had available). We went to the cathedral with the bell tower, and up the tower, explored the waterfront area, shopped, dined, and spent one day in Olhão (highly recommend taking the short train ride there for a day trip). Staying close to the train station was a good move as it gave us easy access for travel and was still walking distance to everything. I would also recommend the Faro airport - it was so much easier coming in via Faro than on our way home via Lisbon! Avoid the Lisbon airport at all costs.

Faro is pleasant enough and feels very chilled and safe, but there's little to see - just a few galleries and interesting buildings in the little old town. It was pretty dead during the day, but with lively restaurants and a few bars in the evening. There was also a stage with community dance performances by the marina when I was there. The best bit is its closeness to some amazing beaches and islands, which you can reach either by cheap little ferries or (much) more expensive guided tours. There's also a bus to the main beach.

The city has some beautiful and interesting architecture and it's good to see that some of the more dilapidated buildings are being restored. We found local people very friendly, helpful and welcoming. It's a great place for a peaceful and restful break. We were not looking for a holiday with lots of beach time but enjoyed one day at Faro beach and particularly enjoyed getting a ferry to and from the beach. Loved the food!

Faro is a small town and very easy to find your way around.

Faro is a small town and very easy to find your way around. Most interesting was the Church of bones. Also close to Benagil Caves which we visited. It is a good place to make it a base to visit the small towns around it. Has an airport with direct flights from Toronto.

Two overnight stays bookended my cycling tour in Portugal. I arranged with staff to leave my car in the secure parking. while I was away. The hotel is not in the city centre and is not served by nearby shops and restaurants but Inexpensive taxis are available to and from Faro City Centre. Breakfast opens at 04:30 am presumably facilitating customers with early morning travel times. The staff were very helpful and attentive

Great location. We stayed only for one night as we had a late flight to Faro. The hotel is like 5 min drive from the airport. A complimentary fresh pastry in the morning was a very nice and pleasant surprise. Also, we forgot the phone charger in the room but when I texted the Villa, they kindly stored the charges until our return and left them for us to collect in a safe place! Special thank you for this!

Faro was our last stop on our trip through Portugal. We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The staff was friendly, had answers to all our questions, and were always available. The room was small and the bathroom was small, but the space was well used. The beds were comfortable, the cleanliness was top notch, the location was good, the shopping center was a 10-minute walk away, and the center was close by.

Faro is a good place to go as a jump off for other areas in Portugal, the Lemon Tree Stay is in a great location and is within walking distance to everything your need. The breakfast was a good solid start in the morning, by the 4th day of our stay, it would have been nice not to have the same food. We stayed 6 days....
