This rural hotel looks like it has recently been totally renovated, so it adds an old palace charm to high standard modern amenities, like a design passage way between the main building/reception area and the building where the rooms are. The gardens are beautiful and very well kept - there is a rose garden, a hortensia's garden, a wall-garden and the gardens around the open air swimming pool. There is also a tennis court by the swimming pool, all very nicely done. The situation is very peaceful and quiet, overlooking the mountains and farms. The rooms are very spacious and some of them have a nice terrace with access to the gardens. The breakfast was really good, all with freshly made products from the region - cheese, ham, marmelade - and home made bread. We stayed happily for two nights and could have stayed longer to unwind! Bonus: the Mondego river walkways are a half hour drive away, a nice walking trail of 16kms.

Everything was flawless, which is a rare experience. The staff were super efficient, and with this , they were nearly invisible, the indicator of quality is obvious. We loved the outdoor pool, the water was almost acceptably warm. The receptionist kindly gave us a room with the best terrace overlooking the valley, so we could enjoy our coffee walking right through the balcony door.

Teresa Governo is a very friendly and welcoming host who did her best to help me find the location of the apartment (Google maps doesn't recognise the address) and when I called her for help she came out immediately to find me and guide me - excellent service. The apartment was quiet and perfect for our needs. On top of this, Teresa provided multiple items in the kitchen that were a delightful bonus: a full fruit basket, olive oil, vinegar, salt & pepper and other spices, tea & coffee, milk, rusks, welcome chocolates and a little liqueur, jam, butter and bottled water, nuts, garlic, onions etc. Her apartment is excellent value for money - I'm sorry ours was such a short stay.

We had an amazing time at Estrela! The host was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the home-cooked meals were absolutely delicious – a real highlight of our stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and had a lovely view overlooking green fields, which made it feel peaceful and relaxing. There were so many activities to keep kids entertained – from a safe outdoor space to run around, to a swimming pool, zip wire, and even bikes for cycling. Our child had a blast and was never bored! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a family-friendly getaway with warm hospitality and beautiful surroundings.

This rural hotel looks like it has recently been totally renovated, so it adds an old palace charm to high standard modern amenities, like a design passage way between the main building/reception area and the building where the rooms are. The gardens are beautiful and very well kept - there is a rose garden, a hortensia's garden, a wall-garden and the gardens around the open air swimming pool. There is also a tennis court by the swimming pool, all very nicely done. The situation is very peaceful and quiet, overlooking the mountains and farms. The rooms are very spacious and some of them have a nice terrace with access to the gardens. The breakfast was really good, all with freshly made products from the region - cheese, ham, marmelade - and home made bread. We stayed happily for two nights and could have stayed longer to unwind! Bonus: the Mondego river walkways are a half hour drive away, a nice walking trail of 16kms.

We had an amazing time at Estrela! The host was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the home-cooked meals were absolutely delicious – a real highlight of our stay.
