Even though I don't usually give reviews because they are usually subjective, I would like to give one now.
I stayed at this beautiful hotel together with a work colleague in CW12 2024.
We were given a very warm welcome, almost like a family, and you could see how everyone looked after the guests.
The breakfast was excellent and you got everything you needed the homemade bread or the rolls were very tasty.
The restaurant was also very good, for the first time in my life I ate goat, a speciality, I can only recommend trying it.
All in all it was a great time on site and I highly recommend this hotel.

United StatesWe had a wonderful stay in this beautiful hostel. It feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hostel if you reserve a private room. The room was impeccably clean, very comfortable, and breakfast was quite satisfying! The owners were also so thoughtful and kind, and take amazing care of the property! Even though it was a little rainy, the hiking nearby was really pretty, and it’s easy to hike or drive to explore a few of the schist villages from Lousã. We’d be thrilled to return!!

For me, as someone who loves cats and nature, it was a simple and wonderful stay. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, which was important since I had to work on my computer in the mornings. The surrounding nature is beautiful and full of life. Two days of complete relaxation. The house was impeccable.

A small village tucked into the side of the mountain, surrounded by wild and untouched nature. The forests, the steep paths, and the quiet atmosphere make it feel like a hidden world of its own. Life there is simple and peaceful, with the charm of old stone houses and the sound of the wind moving through the trees. It’s the kind of place where nature is always close and every moment feels connected to the mountain.

Lousã is a larger town than expected but not much in terms of things to do other than the schist villages nearby. You need a car to get around and you do need to plan ahead as restaurants do close between lunch and dinner. Also, most restaurants are not dog friendly and mainly only cafés have outdoor seating, so it's not an option to bring your dog to dinner. Overall it was a beautiful visit and it's a peaceful place to be.

Lousã is a wonderful place for nature lovers.
Lousã is a wonderful place for nature lovers. It has great trails for various the experienced as well as the less experienced hiker. Lots of streams and beautiful spots as well as breathtaking views to take in. The town itself is very quiet. It has no life but if its nature you’re looking for, it’s definitely the right place.

Central to the Schist villages which are high up in the mountains so you can hike and visit the old villages. Would recommend a day in Coimbra too. The old town of Lousa is nice for a stroll around too.

The surrounding mountains are beautiful.
The surrounding mountains are beautiful. Lousã itself is ok but not much to see or do. It’s ideal for hikers. You can start the trails (there are trailers for all difficulties) straight from the hotel. Octant Hotel has many activities organised every day to entertain guests. The town itself does not have much. Make sure to take a backpack with water and food for the hike. Towns along the way but limited food and water overall.

We stayed at Talasnal Mountains de Amore.
We stayed at Talasnal Mountains de Amore. The property was well maintained, bedrooms were lovely. Kitchen well provided. The village is quaint and very photgraphable. Our property had a small bathroom. It was my impression from the photos that the bathroom would have been larger. Also the property in the photos stated "Casa de Padre" but there was no such property with this name. The tavern was not open on the night we arrived - Wednesday, but was open for breakfast and coffee etc and lunch on Thursday. It was a bit pricey so we drove to Lousa to have lunch. It would be advised to find out if the Tavern is open for your arrival, as you might need to take your own food as we did.

This was a fantastic opportunity to stay in a traditional 1930s Portugese villa in a small village. Large house and garden with multiple areas for eating and relaxation. Excellent facilities and cleanliness. Host Maria Manuel was extremely helpful with excellent recommendations regarding the local area. Thirty minutes from Coimbra but also lots to do around Lousa. Do not miss the Schist villages in the hills.

We loved our time on the fam, we stayed 5 nights with a small child.The house was comfortable specious and clean,the bed was amazing. The area of the farm is beautiful and relaxing, the owners and workers are very friendly and the farm animals are lovely. The village of Lousa is not so attractive but if you live natue there are plenty of hikes and small villages around.

What a beautiful little home on the edge of Lousã. I loved the authenticity, the coziness and the rural charm of this place. It was fully equipped with all we needed for a very relaxing few days. The location is excellent for walking into Lousã and for the trails to the castle and the schist villages beyond (if you like a good trek! Or drive!).

The room was exceptionally clean and loved how it had all modern amenities with a cabinet of utensils and cookware. I would definitely stay here again and for more nights. The proximity to walking around town to explore, find restaurants and even walk to the castle Lousa was perfect.
