Casa Princesa Peralta is and ecological country house, located in 12 km from Lousã. The traditional home is sited in the scenic Lousã Schist Route. The village is way up a mountain and all the buildings are made of schist rock. It is so beautiful. Our hostess was there to meet us, show us around the house and also the breakfast she brought us. She also showed us around the village and found us a place to eat dinner, which was delicious. There was also a lovely cat to greet us on our arrival, he was very friendly and even accompanied us on our morning hike. We wished we had stayed longer and would love to come back some day.
Located at 12 km from Lousã, this rustic property is surrounded by nature and overlooks the mountain. The nearest bus stop is 14 km from Talasnal Montanhas de Amor. A small schist village in the mountains near Lousa, Talasnal is an incredibly beautiful place offering many breathtaking hiking trails and very special atmosphere. In fact, the atmosphere was truly exceptional and it felt like nothing else I have come across before even though I am an experienced traveller. Our host Filipa (I am not sure about the spelling but this is how it was written in one of the email letters), the owner of the place, was not only attentive and friendly, but made sure we received the best attention and service. We arrived in the evening just before the sunset and she showed us around and then took us to the tavern (we were the only guests) and prepared a delicious rustic and very authentic dinner. We were not very hungry so it was simply cooked meat and sausages, bread, cheeses, fruits. As well as great local wine for a ridiculous price! While cooking, she told us all about the story behind this hotel. All the conversations with her were very interesting. We enjoyed our evening tremendously. Sitting by the fire in the oven which Filipa had started for our house to warm up for the night, my partner and I chatted until midnight and the next day went to hike. The trails are quite simple for experienced hikers but insanely magnificent. That day was my partner's birthday about which I had informed our host when discussing the dinner arrangements. Of course I wanted to make it special but what we actually received was beyond any dreams. Because we were the only guests we had the whole tavern for ourselves and despite expecting a member of the staff to cook for us it was Filipa herself who specifically drove all the way to the village to bring the food and cook it herself! She made this incredible meat and veggies as well as fruit dessert with a birthday candle. Oh my god, it was the most romantically authentic dinner in my life. My partner claimed it was the best birthday he's ever had.

Lousa is small. But there are great things to see there and it's beautiful. We stayed 2 nights but wished to have a stayed one more night to explore more of Serra de Lousã. Highly Recommended if you enjoy getting away from city. About a 30 Euro Taxi from Coimbra B station.
I'll be straight. I came to Lousa for a mountain bike race. I loved it. Even if it was wet and cold most of the time I was there I know that's not typical. I wish I had stayed longer and got to do some riding myself. The hills look really worth while exploring and I wish I had got to see more of the sights. I am definitely looking forward to coming back and exploring more.
This was just the legal side of house purchase so brief this time...but I'm making it home so it must have something to offer. It's a pleasant town with old and new, efficient and chaotic...and best of all people who are just happy to help!!!
Weather was poor thus restricting our plans. Quiet town (in January) with good tourism office and friendly staff. Easy access to the castle and nearby Schist villages with stunning views. Restaurants reasonably priced and food tasty
A small town in the Centro region of Portugal. It's main atractions are outside the city limits: walking/biking paths in a type of forest that has get to kept few ot it's original flora. It is not uncomon to spot wild hoars and deers in the wild.
I went to Lousa to experience rural Portugal and that was exactly what I got. I did a beautiful hike up to the mountain villages, visited the castle and swam (very briefly) in the mountain pools. The two restaurants I would recommend are Travessa Tapas and cafe avis where the food and wine both are delicious, plentiful and cheap.

What a stunning place! Beautiful, quirky old house, tiny but perfect for a few days. Spotlessly clean, fantastic welcome from Felipa, free coffee and a bar with views over the Lousa valley and the mountains. Talasnal is the ultimate fairy village, and the walks around it are challenging but so rewarding! We missed out on the local restaurant, but they were fully booked by the time we got our act together. Book early if you want to eat local delicacies. We loved it, thinking about a longer stay next time!

Gorgeous old main palacio building. Public rooms beautiful. Gardens well tended. Lovely staff. Excellent pastry chef (super light croissants & tarte tatin). Nice fresh fruit at breakfast. Good location in historic town centre. Some bedrooms in the original building are probably pleasant.

Traditional basic hotel, family owned with a very friendly owner, that was very helpful to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Perfectly located in the centre of Lousa, nice to walk into town in the evening to eat or drink something, and next to the town's public swimming pool.
