Lacle Hotel-Luzhou Taipei 4 stars

Hotel in Luzhou District , Taipei

Boast a sun terrace with outdoor furniture, Lacle Hotel Taipei is just a 3-minute walk away from MRT St. Iganatius High School. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was big enough for two people and had all the necessary amenities. We tried the breakfast for 220NTD on the last day, it was quite nice with a range of food but maybe a little expensive compared to the food available outside. The location was good, not in the middle of the city but it was a short walk to the metro station which made it very easy to get around.

Cho Hotel 3 stars

Hotel in Wanhua District , Taipei

Surrounded by various dining and shopping options, Cho Hotel is located in Ximending. It is only a 2-minute walk from Ximen MRT Station and Eslite Bookstore. This is one of the most originally designed hotels I have stayed at (the cardboard messages from former guests in the reception and elevators contribute to giving the place "personality"). The atmosphere is fantastic - the staff is friendly and funny! They have a social room with free snacks and drinks, and even a shower so I could shower after checking out, before my late night flight. And it's in the middle of everything in Ximen! Just book a room, you will not regret it!

The Undiscovered Asian Capital

Capital of the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan), huge Taipei is surrounded by mountains. Taipei 101, once the world’s tallest building, dominates its skyline from Xinyi, an area known for the most active nightlife.

At Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall the national flag is raised every morning and the guard changed every hour. Less known for tourists is National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, containing a tall bronze statue of the country’s founding father.

Of the wealth of Taipei museums, the best are Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and the National Palace Museum – one of world’s largest collections of Chinese artifacts. Even more numerous are the temples dedicated to Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religions. Xinsheng South Road is nicknamed ‘Road to Heaven’ for its sheer number, but most famous is Longshan Temple in Wanhua, the oldest district.

Taipei shopping is fantastic and includes Core Pacific Living Mall, supposedly Asia’s largest. The Ximending area has lots of shops (and karaoke), while the Shilin Night Market should not be missed. For a break from the bustle head to central Daan Forest Park, the botanical gardens with its lotus ponds,or Yangmingshan National Park, known for hot spring baths and spring cherry blossom.

Whether you fly into Songshan or Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, efficient public transport takes you to the Taipei hotels on Booking.com.
