Rock and Roll HOF. Winking Lizard. Playhouse Square. Progressive Field. The Clevelander. Little Italy (my favorite) West Side Market and the Christmas Story House. Day trip to Canton for Pro Football HOF and McKinley Library.
City is really beautiful! There were plenty things to look at. Went to a Browns game that was really great since the Browns won! Plenty of bars and restaurants to visit all within walking distance of each other. The Tap restaurant and bar and the Clevelander were to places we stop in to have food and brew. The Tap has a bunch of different beers on tap. Went to one restaurant and bar for breakfast that was fantastic but unfortunately i forgot their name but they were located in the same area as the other places i mentioned. They also have a decent size casino. There is plenty of parking areas so I recommend to park and walk around the city.
People were very friendly. Little frustrating the number of people coming up to me asking for handouts. Seemed like the city ‘closes down’ early, so not much to do after 10pm. Also warned by many people to be careful walking the streets at night. Probably why it shuts down so early. I had a good time in the theater district, sports facilities and Rock and Roll hall of fame.
This is not the Cleveland I was born and raised in; nor is it the one in which I spent my early adulthood. I left in 1987 and although I've been back there numerious times, this was the first time staying in a hotel. I was there on family business, but got to see some of downtown closely for the first time in over four decades. This isn't a place to go for shopping, but if you happen to be there for a few nights, you can find entertainment enough, decent restaurants and the prices are great.
THE PEOPLE! And the Beach Boys Concert - I was a teen in 1963 when their first recording came out. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! MOST IMPORTANTLY: we had two drivers, one to take us to the venue before the concert and one to return. They were partners. No problem getting there: the driver was on time, knew exactly where to go, and dropped us off at the ticket counter. BUT THE WAY BACK: the first driver promised to have his partner to meet us after the concert. (Keep in mind there is minimal public transportation for a large crowd.) We were very worried lest we couldn't find him in all the exiting traffic and that he would give up and leave us. BUT he faithfully drove around for 45 minutes before we made contact. Yet, he only charged us the standard fare of $20! Needless to say, we left hime a very large gratuity. Of course there is more, but I really want to plug Emmanuel and Omi, our two drivers. Immigrants both who made sure we were safely returned to our hotel.
We enjoyed visiting the Guardian's stadium and chatting with people sitting near us. The fans were friendly, and we enjoyed the atmosphere of the ballpark. While we appreciated staying downtown within walking distance of the ballpark and restaurants, our hotel was awful. Don't stay at the Hotel Indigo! Our teenage son loved eating at Wahlburgers!!
Great location and are taking COVID seriously. Hotel was clean. Bed was reasonably comfortable. There are two parking garages next to the hotel. One charges $10 a night Monday thru Friday. The other charges $23. a night seven days a week. Pretty good for downtown Cleveland. I read a couple reviews which said they were unhappy with the staff. Vic was polite and to the point. He answered all questions and had good suggestions. Called for assistance while checking us in so the people behind us didn’t have to wait.
Had a nice room on the 7th floor, with a good view out over Cleveland. Room was presented clean, no complaints, however as it seems with most hotels at the moment no servicing of rooms was done during our three night stay. Open air parking in hotel parking lot, was easily to access for unloading and loading of car, although car parking was chargable on a daily rate, no issues with in and out access.
Cleveland
This was the Carlsberg B&B experience. Mikes generosity began with messages to say the house is lit up and I’ll meet you at the door despite our late arrival. We arrived into a fully stocked house with a welcoming sign with our names on it. A chocolate cake saying welcome to Cleveland! He left clear instructions for restaurants and sights which were great recommendations.
I love the architecture of this landmark building, and the location is perfect for downtown Cleveland visits. But the staff is EXEMPLARY! From checking in to valet parking, they were all amazing except housekeeping..
Conveniently located at 20 minutes walking to University Circle and at 2 minutes walking to the Health line bus stop. Nice hotel and polite staff. Clean and wide room and private bathroom.
Everything! Great hotel, clean, beautiful building and grounds, great location, staff was exceptional, breakfast and "kick back" offering were awesome, pool was fun for kids.
