The big draw of Durango is the steam train ride.

The big draw of Durango is the steam train ride. It was OK, but if you're taller than 5'6" the seating will be very uncomfortable. The town itself is a tourist trap. Restaurants are average, prices high, and service poor. They know you came for the train, and won't be back. Colorado is a beautiful state, but there are better choices there.

We had booked the train ride to Silverton.

We had booked the train ride to Silverton. There was flooding/heavy rain during our trip. The train ride was canceled halfway through. The traffic at the train station was heavy. Be prepared to wait to get into the parking area. Otherwise, Durango and the Apple Orchard Inn were lovely.

I have been traveling to Durango for years and the experience is always great. Be sure to check out Durango Diner downtown, & James Meats & Grill..great food, friendly service Train to Silverton ti s must if you have the time

We went on the Durango train and that is pretty much it.

We went on the Durango train and that is pretty much it. The train ride to Silverton was great. a bit long but good. Silverton was not what we expected. It was a stop to get food and gifts. No mining

Quaint town and the 11th street food court was really...

Quaint town and the 11th street food court was really awesome. We also went to the farmer's market on Saturday morning and walked along the river. We watched the train to Silverton roll by.

My partner and I really loved the location of this hotel. It was really easy to get to main street and to walk around the to the things that we were going to. The hotel was really clean and the staff were so warm and welcoming. We will definitely be staying again!
