Extremely disappointing stay. Two adults were ultimately given a tiny room of approximately 6.4 m² / 69 sq ft with a bed only about 128 cm / 50 inches wide. We were also offered accommodation without adequate functioning heating despite nighttime temperatures of approximately 3°C / 37°F.
Other rooms appeared to be vacant, yet staff told us they could not reach the owner, provide a suitable alternative, or authorize a refund.
We stayed one night only because it was already dark and McCarthy is extremely remote, then left the following day. We documented everything with photographs and measurements and filed a formal complaint with Booking.com.
Based on our experience, we absolutely cannot recommend McCarthy Lodge Resort.

McCarthy is in a wonderful location next to three impressive...
McCarthy is in a wonderful location next to three impressive glaciers and by a world class historical mine (Kennecott mine) in the fabulous Wrangle St.Elias National Park. The mountains and rivers are unique and unspoiled. There is a small local airport and guide services for some unforgettable excursions. We did a float trip on rafts down the Kennecott river with a bush plane return that was a once in a lifetime experience. Avoid staying in McCarthy but stay in nearby Kennecott Lodge or some air B&B or cottage nearby. McCarthy Lodge resort is a disaster.
