Skyleaf Villa 801 offers accommodations in Sugar Mountain, 3.1 mi from Sugar Mountain Resort. We absolutely loved the view from our balcony. It smelled real nice in the apartment. The bedrooms were lovely to sleep in, beds are really comfortable! It was a nice home away from home. Definitely would recommend, and come again.
Slopesider 06 is a property set in Sugar Mountain near Sugar Mountain Resort. The holiday home is in an area where guests can engage in activities such as skiing and cycling. This place was perfect for us. I could not tell from the pictures when booking if you could ski in and out but we were glad we could. It was very clean and accommodating. My daughter loved this place and we do plan to book this place again.
Location and view were great. Unit was very dated and needed updating, painting. Took a while to go thru the many remotes before I found the current one and got the tv working. Windows are glazed over hindering the otherwise wonderful view.
There are so many things to do and see it requires going back again snd again! It’s also perfect for sitting and reading! Great barbque! Spicy food at The Bayou in Banner Elk! Fun shopping! Beautiful waterfalls!
We hit the perfect weekend for skiing. We got there just ahead of an incoming snow storm. With this extra powder and the beautiful scenery brought the hordes of people. All though the crowds were taken care of, Sugar Mountain management should look into making the process smoother for check in and rentals. All in all a great trip!!!
Sugar is a small mountain with only one way in and out. The roads are narrow and would recommend 4wd or chains during bad weather. There is a food lion close by as well as an Italian restaurant and a Subway. The ski lodge is not taking online reservations right now so it is first come first served. Get there EARLY! There were a lot of disappointed families on Sat. They sold out by 10am for the day! Try to take the shuttle if possible - there is very little parking. Tubing you have to get there over an hour before the time you want to tube and get tickets. I think it goes every two hours.
We really enjoyed our stay at Sugar Mountain. It's close enough to the big attractions (Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls) but with a comfortable, easy-going feeling. We loved dining at the Artinasal , Banner Elk Cafe, Stonewalls, Bayou Smokehouse and Grill and Froggy Rock Cafe. The food was really good and the staff was super friendly. Banner Elk Cafe, Bayou, and Froggy Rock are all pet-friendly, so we loved being able to take our puppy with us. We also dined at the Peddlin Pig and were not impressed..at all. The staff wasn't very friendly (at least to us they weren't) and the food was just so-so. Getting around to the nearby areas was very easy because the main highway runs right through the town. It was only a 15-20 min drive at most to any of the nearby attractions. You can also find a lot of great adventure activities such as zip line, white water rafting, tubing, cave exploration, and rock wall climbing, as well as The Alpine roller-coaster (not for the faint of heart).
Vacasa, the property management company, is terrible. We had an issue with the hot tub leaking slowly so it wouldn't fill. By the time we realized that it would never fill enough to use the jets, we'd emptied the hot water heater. So we couldn't even take a hot shower. It's been almost 2 weeks. I called that night, and 3 times since. I've also emailed. They refuse to respond in any way. They just say they'll forward it to some other department, &/or that department has never responded, and they'll try to contact them again. Just flat out refusing to take any responsibility for not providing the advertised amenities. We only stayed one night. Issues happen, it's how they respond to issues that matter. I couldn't imagine being at one of their properties for more than one night with a major issue if this is how they treat their customers.
