I only live 30 min north of Vancouver, my reason for visiting was my pets and 4th of July noise. If you are visiting the Portland Or/Vancouver area, the Vancouver side of the river is just less crowded than the Portland side. For a very good meal, Little Italy downtown Vancouver has been one of my favorites for several years great food and good people. Visiting especially down town Portland, I would recommend driving to the Van Port park and ride then take the yellow line train into down town, way easier and cheaper than paying for parking downtown. If it is raining go to the expo center park and ride, it's the end of the line there is always a train there so you can wait inside the train. In Portland, every one uses the train. There is plenty to see and do for all ages.
There is plenty to see and do for all ages. Access to food and events within walking distance. Beautiful waterfront lined with restaurants, weekend events like saturday market, street musicians. Historial sites in this downtown location. Main street shopping (retail/resale) stores close. Fun coffee, brewery, and multiple variety of food cafes in the area. Easy access to the freeway. Overall, wonderful and fun area. Only challenge was PARKING!!! But, a great walking area if weather permits. With a motorized scooter or wheelchair, everything is accessible. Children can ride there bikes around the area. Did see some skateboarders. There is a popular ice cream shop on waterfront avenue.( a most visit) I loved Wildfin Restaurant (the salmon and salads) for a nice dining experience. Seating in-doors or outdoor riverview. from where i am living now , your city is wonderful. cool air, slight rain and mist, very nice land scaped town, flowers on all the street corners, friendly people, and most of all, the green trees every where, and the mountains. the food in town, is great, also the farmers market, was a hit. i did not know if i would like the town or not, but my wife and i were blown away, on how wonderful your town is.
