Tiny Digs - Hotel of Tiny Houses, Kimpton Riverplace Hotel, an IHG Hotel, and Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Portland.
Filled with drug addicts and zombies walking the streets and yelling at all times of the night. You cant walk more than a few blocks without getting the after smell of a crack or meth pipe from the local sidewalk campers. Everywhere smells like the aroma of urine especially near the street markets by the river. Not safe and not clean, no police in this area so be prepared they have definitely been defunded and dont patrol the area.
Downtown Portland is a ghetto, there are tent cities with homeless people everywhere, they shoot up drugs on the street and defecate wherever they like, stay away from downtown if you can. If you do go to Portland, I would only recommend two things: 1. Powell's City of Books at 1005 West Burnside 2. Portland Ghosts ghost tour
The Eastside is Portland is making a comeback. They have cleaning crews who go around every morning making sure ythe streets and sidewalks are clean. So many breweries to check out! Buy the Portland Hopper card to ride public transit all day, best way to get around town and avoid parking issues. Loyal Legion is my go-to bar, serving 100 taps of all Oregon beer.
We spent the weekend in downtown Portland. We went on a food tour of the Alberta Arts District which was excellent and also attended Broadway Across America show at Keller Auditorium. Of course, great coffee shops! We ate at an Italian restaurant in South Waterfront which was also excellent. Although there are many store fronts closed, Portland appears to be trying to address the homeless issue which has negatively impacted downtown.
Loved the easy access to a variety of things to do,. Went to the bookstore, shopping and then Washington Park. We could has spent much more time exploring all the things to do in the park. Downtown shopping is great tool Having many security people present in the shopping area certainly made the homeless situation less stressful, however we rode the train from Washington State and the train station drop off area is not an area that we felt safe as two females traveling together. Not a great visual welcome or first impression to guest coming to the city. Getting to public transportation from the train station was dicey. . Avoid this area. We had a hard time reading the maps provided for the buses - the compass is not printed on the map to help orient your location and ground you to find where you are. For direction challenged travelers this is tricky.
Portland us an artsy, unique city. Lots of great choices for restaurants. Great Saturday market with drum groups and excellent people watching. Beautiful houses to look at. However, it’s very dirty, lots of litter, broken glass, broken sidewalks. I didn’t always feel safe as a single woman walking around.
I loved coffee in the morning and breakfast is awesome too. Staff at Grill is very nice and takes care of customer very well and every morning I see they are overwhelmed. Rooms are good and specious and very clean. Minor thing is you will see traffic if you need to do to downtown in morning time but that's nothing to do with hotel but next time i may prefer Holiday in NW Portland to avoid traffic. But this location is definitely very good experience and I may look to come back at some point especially if I am travelling with my family.
Pearl District, Portland
Location! From the bedroom and living room (with balcony!), you can see Moda Center, Steel & Broadway Bridges, Go By Train & Union Station, Big Pink and other Downtown skyline, and Mt. Hood - a cornucopia of Portland icons. drop downstairs for the best sushi and bakery in the Pearl - and the whole ordeal is right on the Streetcar line. the quality of the indoor space is befitting this marvelous apartment - clean and beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!
Excellent room in terms of space , cleanliness (nice bath room), quiet and it had a well equipped kitchenette too. Location was quite central in midst of downtown and practically 15-30 mins walking distance to most attractions especially great shopping (no sales tax :).. Not far from airport 20-30 mins travel time by Uber ..great coffee shops 2 mins walk (STUMPTOWN). Given the options for eating out, didn't try hotel breakfast.
Our second stay at Jupiter NEXT. Great location for our purposes, with good dining options nearby. Parking cost reasonable compared to downtown hotels. This hotel is exceptionally clean and bright; bathroom set up works well and love the large walk-in shower. Appreciate that they are not doing small plastic toiletries (they have wall-mounted dispensers). Friendly staff and good price over the Thanksgiving holiday!
I’ve been staying/working at hostels since 2011, and this is by far the best one I’ve ever been to. The real state is amazing, super clean, new and comfortable. The location is fantastic, close to downtown and the neighborhood feels very safe. The staff is very friendly and really do their best to help you out. Whenever I go back to Portland, I won’t even consider staying anywhere else.
The quality of the rooms makes for a good respite for going about on various adventures about downtown Portland. The café/bar in the lobby has a nice ambiance, and versatile menu...think that I had some sort of seasonal coffee drink before departing for the airport. Access is to/from PDX is very convenient with the Chinatown stop just a block away.
We love staying at the Paramount. Their rooms are always clean, quiet, and very comfortable. The location is exceptional within the Downtown District. The staff is always well trained and professional. This is our go-to hotel anytime we stay in the Portland area.
Cool staff, noticed mostly younger people staying here, great vibes at the bar and a spacious lobby area to hang around and chat with friends. A newer hotel with more recent tech, TVs are Chromecast enabled. Location in downtown Portland is very convenient.
This hotel was in a convenient location for visiting PSU and the downtown Portland area. We were able to easily walk everywhere and leave the vehicle parked while in town. An added bonus, the hotel parking fee was waved.
The room was so comfortable. Big open windows and stylish decor. Beautiful view of downtown Portland. The hotel decor was so quirky and fun! Loved the phot booth and kitchen with coffee and pastries!
The location was the best anyone could ask for when traveling on a budget. Other options were in downtown Portland at a much higher rate. The staff was helpful and beyond nice.
Great hotel in downtown. Clean and comfortable rooms, I loved the style and decoration of the hotel. Plus, the staff is really nice and helpful.
Good sized room, very clean. Bit noisy with airplanes but to be expected in an airport hotel. Overall a good place for 2 nights in Portland
Great downtown location. Beautiful hotel; very comfortable bed and great shower. Staff were delightful and only too willing to help.
Hotel has a good location in downtown, and the best part was the Domaine Serene wine bar off the lobby
Proximity to airport and downtown Portland. Cleaning staff very friendly and helpful
