The whole place reeked of cigarettes and the room was visibly dirty. In the hallway there were people wandering around, very clearly intoxicated either by drugs, alcohol, or a combination. The front desk was very unorganized and nog well trained. Would never stay again nor would I recommend it.

I planned to visit the city, but after reading up and hearing from some people that lived there i changed my plans. I decided to just visit for the day. The city is suffering from drug and homeless problems, I was told they are trying to reverse a policy of all drug legalisation, which hadn't gone well. I have travelled globally and to some poor countries and bad cities in the past, this had a bad vibe about the place. The "famous" bookstore is just like any other and nodiscript. Voodoo doughnuts which are on the must do list, are again completely overrrated. My advice, skip Portland and do Seattle instead.

Portland is a great city to visit, but the area north of Burnside Bridge looks a little rough, with many homeless people. But, that area has some of the best restaurants in town. Dan and Louis Oyster Bar, Jack's Famous Crawfish and of course, VooDoo Donuts. Easy to walk around and the transit system, Tri-Met is second to none. I did not even rent a car, took bus and tram all over.

I recently visited Portland and enjoyed its unique mix of urban charm and natural beauty. The downtown area is walkable, full of great food, coffee shops, and local culture. The city has a relaxed, creative vibe and feels very eco-conscious. While there are some urban challenges like visible homelessness, overall it’s a welcoming and interesting place to explore. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy nature, food, and a laid-back atmosphere.

**Portland, Oregon – A Quirky Gem for Nature Lovers and Foodies** Portland is a unique blend of lush natural beauty, vibrant culture, and irresistible food. From the peaceful trails of Forest Park to the stunning views of Multnomah Falls just outside the city, it’s a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. The city’s famous food carts, craft breweries, and quirky institutions like Voodoo Doughnut and Powell’s City of Books make it a haven for creatives and foodies alike. Add in a strong eco-conscious vibe, excellent public transit, and the "Keep Portland Weird" spirit, and you’ve got a destination that’s both welcoming and wonderfully weird. Perfect for a laid-back yet adventure-filled getaway.

Park Lane suites was in a downtown congested area and since we did not want to loose our handicapped parking space, my husband pushed me down a hill in a wheelchair to a restaurant, but there were only two choices nearby the motel and going back up hill was hard on him at age 74.

The bed was super comfortable, it was nice having a kitchen, and the hotel is in an excellent location with lots of good restaurants and stores. The renowned Powell Books is only 2 blocks away. It is a short 2 block walk to catch the light rail to the airport. The locked courtyard adds a nice level of safety. While not the fanciest accomodstion, it is an excellent value when considering its prime Portland location. I would definitely stay again.

This was our third stay. We love that parking is easy, it's walkable to downtown and local businesses, it's quiet, easy access to the highways / routes out of town for day trips, an easy drive to eastern Portland. We fine the beds and pillows comfy. Bathroom and showers are great. Love that there is a fridge, coffee makers, and in some rooms a kitchenette. There's an elevator for rooms not on the main floor.
