The Hotel Zags Portland, hotel in Portland

This boutique hotel is located in downtown Portland, 5 minutes’ walk from the Portland Art Museum. A fire pit and furnished patio is available for guests. Rooms feature a flat-screen HD cable TV.

Fantastic location in Downtown Portland, really groovy shared spaces, from lounge cafe/bar to semi covered outdoor patio, but especially the spacious and very well thought out game room! Pool table, shuffleboard, darts, giant connect four, jenga and many board/card/dice and wooden checkers type games, it made a bright place on a rainy afternoon. They also have a huge locker of lendable gear, from cruiser bikes and helmets to video game consoles, binoculars, yoga mats and guitars. Our king room was small, but the bed luxurious, and the city/patio view out a large window made us cozy instead of cramped. All the staff was pleasant and helpful, front desk to cafe servers to maids. We came back muddy from biking along the river, and the room was made up in the evening for us off schedule- including the free bottles of water provided on check in. I’ll be returning to The Zags next time I’m in Portland.

The best thing about Portland are the family members who live there; they are the reason for our visit. We do enjoy going to many sites in Portland including the various gardens: Rose Garden, Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden, Pennisula Garden, Rhodendron Garden, and just walking around neighborhoods seeing the beautiful trees and plants. Powell's Bookstore is a must. We went to a Thorn's (women's Pro soccer team) game. It was exciting. There are many good food options in Portland. We like the zoo and of course there are many sites nearby to visit including a plethora of "falls" like Multinoma and Bridal Veil. The beauty of the city is blighted by homeless camps which lead to much litter, etc.

Portland, you're a breath of fresh air, reminiscent of my beloved Calgary with your mellow pace of life. Yet, you offer a gentle winter, free from the icy grip that defines our seasons. Your embrace of the LGBTQ community and the effortless kindness of your residents have been a revelation, challenging the media's portrayal with a beautiful reality. A heartfelt shoutout to Moxy Portland Downtown for their uniquely fabulous vibe and warm hospitality. You've been the highlight of our journey. As we conclude our road trip across the US Pacific Northwest, it's clear—Portland, you're the perfect finale. 🌲✨

    Enjoyed the nature and greenery.

Enjoyed the nature and greenery. Went to Providence Park for Timbers soccer match and would highly recommend. I liked Washington Park with the Japanese Gardens and Rose Test Gardens. Liked walking around Powell's Books. Really enjoyed walking around NW District neighborhood, and eating at Sweet Bacon Cafe and Scottie's Pizza Parlor. Recommend staying at Inn at Northrup Station in NW District or the Tiny Digs Hotels in Kerns neighborhood in East Portland. Enjoyed Screen Door restaurant at East Portland. Trail Blazers Basketball game at Moda Center was fine. There is a lot of homeless and possible drug use around downtown Pearl District. Never felt threatened or in danger but definitely need to be cautious.

such great staff and delicious breakfast. Mike catered to my allergy needs happily and squeezed fresh orange juice for the diners. the front desk came outside to find me when I couldn’t find the parking garage entrance and led me in. the room and hotel in general were nice and quiet, got a great nights sleep. rooms were nicely appointed and super clean. convenient bus stop right outside to go wherever you want in downtown Portland. also not too many sketchy people around like other parts of Portland these days.

The staff was so friendly and helpful and even let us check into our room several hours early. We enjoyed the free waters and pineapple cookies and took advantage of the $10 daily snack cart credit. We didn’t have time to take advantage of the bikes but that was a nice option to have. Parking was on site and was cheaper than most downtown hotel options. The hotel felt very safe despite being in a rough looking downtown neighborhood. I also liked their cute pineapple theme throughout.

Extremely comfortable bed. Excellent location in downtown, walkable to many restaurants and tourist attractions. Just one block from Powell's. Secure underground parking on site for $25 per night, which felt like very good value compared to other hotels. Offered a good value breakfast in the lobby with light bites, which suited us very well when we needed a quick bite before heading out early for the day. Complimentary wine reception from 5-6pm was great to try the local wines.

This is one of my absolute favorite hotel to stay at in Portland. The employees are always incredibly accommodating and friendly. They were even kind enough to let me stay in my room for an extra hour or so as I was waiting for a ride to the airport. The front desk is almost always staffed by someone understanding and helpful. I also LOVE that they have a 24hr pool, hot tub, sauna and fitness center (although not the most impressive equipment.)

This is a nice, basic place in a very convenient location downtown, close to the waterfront, shops and restaurants, and public transport. My room provided everything necessary for a comfortable stay, all appliances worked well, and the staff was terrific. The tram went right by my window, which was a bit noisy, but it didn't affect me too much overall. I would happily stay here again on a future visit to Portland.

Small but comfortable room, but what you'd expect from a downtown hotel in an older, historic building. The bed was one of the best and most comfortable I've experienced in any hotel.
