I have never been so disappointed in a city. My vehicle was broken into in a parking structure. The streets smell like feces and urine. Derelects everywhere. Police do nothing about crime. I'll never go back.

We had to look up the best neighborhoods to explore and ended up spending time in Nob Hill and Alberta Arts district. The houses in these areas are beautiful. Everywhere else we went was full of liter and tent cities. We attempted to go to the overlook park and night but were quickly turned around when we saw how many people had set up for the night here. Our city has a large homeless community as well (not quite as large as Portland) so we are used to that sort of thing, but it may be a little jarring for some.

To be fair, we didn’t see much.
To be fair, we didn’t see much. What we did see was dirty and teeming with homeless. We could not, would not, go out after dark. Even on the hotel property we didn’t feel safe. Getting around was okay, thanks to our navigation system.

If you have never stayed and visited Portland, you are in for treat. An amazing city. Wonderful food, beer and wine. It has such a positive vibe, and so many things to do. Trying to fit it all in is the challenge. We have visited with and without a car. Both were easy. farmers market on Saturday morning downtown is so nice. Too many restaurants to name. all kinds, all price ranges, that is what we like about it. Killer happy hours.

Portland has always been a rather special place for northwest people to go for a proper city experience. Lots of side trips like Mt Hood, the Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, and the rivers. It’s a city with a history and culture. They cleaned up skid row in the 1960’s , and they should be careful about inviting the homeless crowd into the city. It’s a beautiful place.

The location in northern downtown Portland is very good. It is very near Powell's Bookstore, Old Town, Pearl District, etc. Right next door is also a Food Truck Court, nice place to have some food or a beer. The room was clean and big and the cleaning staff were very friendly and efficient! It is a chain, so nothing "out of the ordinary," but the hotel seems to be very well managed/run and the price was very good in comparison to other places in Portland.
Dougan Suites is located 3 mi from my destination site.public transportation very accessible. Very short distance from downtown Portland - 10 minutes from PDX. The Blue Room is a 3 room suite well designed. The interior was furnished in a welcoming fashion. So comfortable I could live in the suite as a home.
Bridgette and Andre’ are wonderful people
The hotel has a very central location with most downtown location being in walking distance for me. Self-Check-In/Out worked flawlessly, staff was excellent and luggage storage was also available. Breakfast was basic but one can not complain.
