The location was awesome. We got the double King room, and it was huge and comfy. We even parked the stroller in there and still had tons of space. The hotel's clean, and the staff was super nice. They also have a coffee shop and restaurant right inside.

FAQs about hotels in Washington

A World Icon

Boasting many national treasures, Washington DC is the US capital and home to the world’s most iconic presidential building – The White House. Most visitors start at the National Mall, a huge park stretching from the Potomac River to the Capitol Building. It also encompasses the Washington Monument obelisk and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, of particular significance in US civil rights, commemorated by the latest addition - the Martin Luther King Memorial.

Also here are 11 of the city’s 17 incredible Smithsonian museums, including the unmissable National Museum of American History.

If all this gets too much, wander around Georgetown’s Colonial buildings and take a break in one of the student cafés. Many world cuisines are represented in Washington DC and the city also has its fair share of live music venues, with a surprisingly good jazz scene. The National Symphony Orchestra is based here and the Kennedy Center hosts a range of productions.

DC’s planning policy means there are no skyscrapers, so if you fly into Washingon Dulles Airport over the city, you see its white buildings standing proud. The city is also served by Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport and Washington National Airport. All are quite a way out, so leave plenty of time to get there from your hotel, apartment or guest house booked through Booking.com.

We enjoyed the Nat Mall attractions. the Old trolley is not reliable late in the day. we chased it for a mile and it never stopped to load us. It was great until that incident. walking the city felt safe with so many National Guard. we didnt know there were few restaurants in this part of town. Book tours when offered.

Excellent place to stay. Clean, great location, friendly staff. I have been staying here for last 3 years, only issue is the AC makes loud noise and difficult to get sleep! Get a room where the AC system is away from the bed.

First of all, there is so much to see and do in Washington,...

First of all, there is so much to see and do in Washington, D.C. that is either free or very affordable that you could probably spend a week here and still not mark everything off of the list. It's a great destination for families or those traveling without kids. The Metro system is clean, quick, and safely got us around the city and even to points further out in Virginia without any issues. The Smithsonian museums are unbelievable and you could probably make an entire day out of each one. We walked the monuments at night after the heat of the day and were surprised how busy and popular they were even at 10pm. Meals here are not cheap though! Be prepared to pay a premium on everything from a hot dog to a slice of pizza. We tried to split meals or conserve leftovers for future meals to keep costs reasonable. If your driving into D.C., I highly recommend finding a long-term garage, parking, and leaving your car and using the amazing public transportation system or traveling by foot. We logged 15-miles of walking in one day! We will be back.

We had three full days looking at Smithsonian museums and art galleries which was just right (4 nights). I was surprised how hot and humid and smoggy it was in July. I had intended to walk around the city and Arlington National Cemetery but it was too uncomfortable to spend much time outside. We brought sunscreen, hats and sun visors. We made our own breakfasts and dinners in our Air BnB, which saved a lot of money. The museums were not busy for the first hour, but the Natural History and African African American Museum were very crowded from 11:00 am on. The east wing of the National ART gallery and the Asian Art museum were pleasantly uncrowded. I heard the postal museum is not crowded but interesting, so if you are there on a busy weekend, try that! I loved the American Indian museum best.

We could not get a close look of the White House, and the reflecting pool was surrounded by mesh and fencing. Once at the Lincoln Memorial, you could look down and see the reflecting pool, which was empty. We didn't tour any museums; we were traveling back from North Carolina. DC was not our final destination.

This capital city offers so many opportunities to learn about the U.S, its history and government. The Smithsonian museums and historical sites are wonderful as are the restaurants and entertainment venues. Take a tour to get your bearings, get a map of the Metro system and you're set for a great vacation.

I absolutely loved our stay in Hotel Washington! Room was comfortable, initially was a bit disappointed since we got a room with no view BUT in the end it was ok because it was a quiet area, we were undisturbed and we got the best night's sleep on all the days we were staying here. The staff were welcoming especially Ermelita and Mary from the FD. The location is wonderful - very close to the White House, lots of restaurants in the general area, Museums are a few mins walk. Felt very safe in the neighborhood and the hotel.

The location was good. It was about 1.5 miles from the Washington Monument and The White House, so about a 30 minute walk. The communication from the hotel was also very good as they provided the codes to enter both the front door, and my room via a text message on Booking.com, so I knew how to access the property before I arrived. They also provided a WhatsApp phone number to ring if I had any issues accessing the room, which I didn't.
