Winslow was the only affordable place in Northern Arizona...
Winslow was the only affordable place in Northern Arizona because of the crush of Grand Canyon visitors and the over-pricing of accommodations in the area. As such a site of overflow housing, it's OK. Not a destination. Most of the people staying where we did are construction workers who apparently are pretty hard on the place.

Amtrak is my favorite way to travel and the luxury of getting off the train, and then sleeping at La Posada makes my recovery from a long adventure much more pleasing. Good food, good beer, good staff, and good location. I always try to remain at this location and check in here in my travels, knowing it is safe for me.

This town has its highlights and famous tourist sights in...
This town has its highlights and famous tourist sights in the heart of the town. The song by the Eagles "Standing in the Corner " is the most popular and photogenic street. A few casual places to eat and reasonably priced and the Trail Museum gives a great historical review of the town's changes through the years. The World Trade Center Pillars Memorial where it displays "United We Stand" is a very sentimental and honored place to see. Watching the trains quietly rolling along the tracks from the back yard of La Posada historical hotel gives you a feeling of yesteryear, nostalgia and serenity all at the same time.DennisUnited States of America
