Winston
Just off Interstate 5, this Winston motel is only 2 miles from Wildlife Safari Park. It offers simply-furnished rooms with a cable TV with extended movie channels. I've been staying at Safari Inn annually for years and all my stays have been excellent (as noted in answers above). Rick is an outstanding host and manager, refurbishing/updating the accommodations.

Location was quiet, had a great 😴! Check in with very quick. Bed was comfortable TV worked. Everything you'd expect if all you need is asleep and a hot shower and a working TV.
Roseburg (Near Winston)
Located in Roseburg in the Oregon region, Terraluna Inn features a patio and garden views. James and Gail provide extra touches (hot chocolate bar, night caps and sweets in the evening, to-go mochas) that we really appreciated. We had breakfast 2 mornings and both were delicious and so filling. Also, since they only rent out 1 room and we were the only guests, we certainly felt more like family than paying customers.

Hotel in Roseburg
The hotel offers access to all varieties of outdoor activities. Enjoy fishing, hunting, boating, whitewater and paddle rafting and scenic bicycle paths along the Umpqua River. I was just looking for a value room for a family trip from Portland to Roseburg for Wild Safari, but they exceeded my expectations. Check-in staff was excellent, offering before being asked extra towels and blankets for our son (using sofa bed). The breakfast with waffles was an added bonus, better than just some muffins like I expected. All the staff that I saw and interacted with were just superb. Next time we make a trip to Wild Safari I know where to stay.

I came to visit family and visit the Wildlife Safari. Ate Abby’s pizza for the first time, it was delicious! There’s a Wal-Mart, Starbucks and other luxuries close by in Roseburg. Cute little town to be explored.
It's been 27 years since I've been to Winston. The only familiar site was the big park across the street from my dad's home. I don't recall it being such a tiny town. The three stores we went into had very friendly employees! However, the people of the town-that we saw looked like they were on drugs. Such a sad site. I'm glad my dad who's 92 can't see very well and probably doesn't notice the few times he gets out to run errands. I would only go to Winston to see my dad. On the bright side we had pizza that was delicious!!( forgot the name- but it was a girl's name) :)
I visited the wildlife safari, that was a neat place. I also had breakfast at little diner down the road from the wildlife inn. Turn left out of parking lot it's a block down on the right hand side next to gas station. Can't remember the name of diner. Good place to eat
Nestled just south of Roseburg, Winston is a quaint town with an affinity for the wild side and an abundance of friendly people. We went for the Wildlife Safari (on our way back from Crater Lake) and stayed the night before going to the park. The town itself is surrounded by beautiful hillsides, pine, fir, and madrone forests. Very picturesque. We stayed at Wildlife Inn - just 3ish miles from Wildlife Safari. The staff was very helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and they offered a breakfast too. Great value overall. They also offer discounted admission to the Wildlife Safari park's drive thru safari. Be sure to ask for it! For eating out, I recommend Johnny's restaurant - it's a classic Drive-In diner (50's style) and still offers drive-in service at your car. The burgers were delicious as were the fries, onion rings, and milkshakes. I recommend the "Pontiac" and "Cadillac" burgers. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Sit-down dining is also available inside and outside. We ate there twice (once for dinner around 8:00 and once for a late lunch the next day). The Wildlife Safari park is the main attraction in Winston for sure. It's absolutely worth a visit. There's a great deal you can do there for no entry charge (all the "village" exhibits are free - primates, lions, the young cheetah, an anteater, a petting zoo, reptiles, so many beautiful birds, and more). But to make your visit more memorable, I highly recommend the elephant encounter (you can pet one of their African elephant's trunks and be just a fence away from her), and any of their photo encounters. The safari drive itself is absolutely worth it! Go slow and enjoy the ride. We'll definitely be going back to Winston soon for another visit!
The Happy Thai restaurant was one of the best places I have ever eaten! Food, service and atmosphere. The homemade ice cream with crushed peanuts and a little chocolate was almost as good as the fresh veggies in the main course Do not miss it!
Winston is pretty borning. The food in town isn’t good and there isn’t much to do besides the Safari, but I only came for the Safari... soot wasn’t a big deal. Still had to drive into different towns for decent food, Starbucks and entertainment.
Winston
The hotel was close to Wildlife Safari which was great since that’s why we were in Winston. The owner was awesome. The WiFi wasn’t working (I had school to do, so was trying to get on the internet). They called the internet provider immediately and got it fixed. Owner was very nice and helpful. Beds were comfortable. Price was great.
