South AfricaThe unit is very clean and cosy. Nice, calm aesthetic. Love the layout, can have privacy in the bathroom because of sliding door. Bathroom has enough space, clean and nice too. Water pressure in the shower is very good; water was hot. Basic cutlery available including plates, glasses, cups plus other add ons like tea, coffee, sugar and salt. Essentials present and in good working condition- iron, ironing board, mop, broom, big enough fridge and microwave. Bed was very comfortable. Really nice place. Great value for money; would definitely recommend! The host is very professional and delightful. Unit is in a quiet, clean and safe surburb. Check out was so seamless.

Writing a review is not something I normally do, but I feel JC Studios and owner Athol deserve a few lines at the very least.
During the past 42 years, I have travelled extensively throughout South Africa and to many parts of the world, experiencing all kinds of accommodation, from Airbnbs and guest houses to luxury hotels. I can honestly say that I do not recall a more comfortable and enjoyable stay than the one I experienced at JC Studios Guest House in Ermelo — especially considering the price and the fact that it is a small town.
From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming, warm and relaxed, and I only wish I could have stayed longer.
Athol is the owner, manager, chef and apparently just about everything else all rolled into one! He personally prepared both dinner and breakfast, and was incredibly friendly. He greeted me at reception more like an old friend than a guest.
He even went the extra mile and made a special arrangement for me to park my old and valuable car safely in his private parking area — something I really appreciated.
And then there was the food!
The portion sizes were absolutely amazing, while the taste and quality were comparable to what I would expect from a 5-star restaurant. Unfortunately, I could not even finish my dinner, never mind get through the fabulous dessert — and breakfast only made it halfway!
And for the record, I am certainly not a small man! 😂
I would recommend JC Studios Guest House without hesitation. In fact, I honestly cannot imagine that any guest house in Ermelo could beat the combination of hospitality, comfort, food and value that I experienced here.
Thank you, Athol, for a wonderful stay. If I am ever passing through Ermelo again, I know exactly where I will be staying!

We were booked into Tranquilo Guesthouse.

We were booked into Tranquilo Guesthouse.
The name sounded like a quiet, well-run “guesthouse”.
We are two pensioners who went to support our granddaughter in Ermelo with a hockey tournament.
We arrived at Tranquilo in the afternoon, checked in, unloaded our luggage and went to the hockey.
On our return to Tranquilo we were told that all our luggage had been packed and there was a Viljoen family in our room.
We were finally booked into Tranquilo two.
Full of anticipation we went to Tranquilo two.
Several people were wandering around the street where Tranquilo two is located.
There were eight women sitting on a wall that were clearly there to attract male clients.
Tranquilo two is not a guesthouse.
No decent, well-educated person would stay there.
It is shocking that members of the public are booked in there.
We were terrified and decided to drive back home in the dark of night.
This deprived us of attending our granddaughter's hockey games the next day.
Something needs to be done before more unsuspecting people are scammed like this.

Salons are closed on Sundays except for one for caucasian hair.The Liqour Store next door to the butcher they offer good service and good prices by Church/Kerk Street next to the Engen garage by the corner.

It was such a pleasure staying at the Green Thumb guesthouse. Make sure to take milk and other food items with you - but they have all the cutlery etc. sorted. The staff are welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

I went to MERINO MALL, very beautiful and refreshing and Spent the Night @Livingwaters B&B; i wuld recommend this accommodation!! it is very easy to get around ERMELO, small town but has your Standard Eateries: Spur,Denonairs, BuergerKing, etc.

Too many potholes inside the town, not good for a car safety.
Nothing to write home about for the place and duration of my stay.
Seemed safe place though if one wants a quite place to relax.
Lots of familiar shops similar to ones in big towns.

We stayed one night at this hotel and had a very pleasant experience. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, making you feel immediately welcome.
Peter, the owner, deserves a special mention – his cooking is truly outstanding and a real highlight of our stay. Highly recommended!

I was only there for one night. The hotel is on the edge of the main town are so one can walk into the town to shop or eat. Breakfast was good but not a lot of choice but maybe that's reflected in the price. There is a large car park with a controlled entrance.

Location was easy to find, rooms generally very clean and we loved the unusually large bathrooms and electric blankets. The owner was very friendly too, will definitely return when we are in ermelo again.
