The host is very responsive, replying messages promptly and she speaks very good English so we have zero issues for checking-in ! Alya the host completed the dual pilgrimage and I guess from there she understand the need of travellers. We love the place, feel like home after our long hours of hiking journey. The place is very very clean, bonus is they provide the laundry & drying machines, and provided some snacks for us to eat those are very sweet gestures.

The private, unobstructed view of the Torii gate itself is worth booking this place for. But on top of that, it’s a spacious, beautiful traditional Japanese house. Easily the most beautiful stay of the trip. There’s a great ramen place and konbini (convenience) store just a few mins walk down the road. Love it. It's my second night in Shino's guest house (1st night is in takahara). The location is much better here, only 10 min walk from Chikastuyu-oji. We have Beigo & egg & salad & coffee for breakfast, and shino even prepared salmon for lunchbox. I was refreshed by the lunchbox during second day's walk. The house is facing rice farms. Very green outside. Frogs, fireflies are around. You can also see stars outside (unfortunately it's cloudy on my stay). A chilling place.

Spacious house, really clean, not far from the village. The dinner was perfect, served in bento boxes what was super after hiking the Kumano Kodo for a full day. Next morning we had breakfast in the cafe that the owner runs, right next to the bus stop. Both breakfast and location were perfect.

We were looking for a place to stay to explore nature, beaches and peaceful japan after staying in the big cities. This place is really nice, is brand new and is well thought through. We were staying as a family of 5: one on the couch below and 4 in the spacious sleeping room upstairs. The shop in the village (3 m walk) had all the necessary groceries, and the bento boxes/fresh fish is really good. As others have said: all amenities are there, the host is super responsive and goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. As it is in a quit residential area be mindful of neighbours but trust me, once here you will instantly become very relaxed

Cozy feeling Tatami home, great cleanliness, and lovely owners that welcomed us. The house had everything and was well stocked. We had a great 3 nights here with our toddler. Highly recommend if staying in Shingu.
