As a country with over 90% of its areas as upland, the Central Asian nation of Tajikistan is essentially one giant mountain. Its rugged terrain and snow-capped peaks make it a playground for hikers and climbers alike.
The Pamirs region offer some of the best high-altitude treks in the world, with beautiful sky-high scenery and the option of a breathtaking drive along the Pamir Highway. Equally wonderful excursions can be found along the border at the ruins of ancient Penjikent and the surrounding Fann Mountains. Tracing the Pyan River south from Khorog, the Wakhan Corridor is sprinkled with picturesque villages, ancient shrines and crumbling castle ruins. The corridor runs right up to the border so it’s possible to cross into Afghanistan and explore the Wakhan from the other side. A small number of large hotels are available in the capital city of Dushanbe, as well as apartments and hostels. Homestays can be found across most of the rural areas.

What is the best regarding this small family-run hotel is the host, Mirzo. He's so welcoming ! He speaks good english (a rarity in Tajikistan !) and is smiling and ready to help. He offered us to taste his mum's homemade plov (traditional meal), as a gift ! And above that rooms are quite comfortable, the location is great (small street, 10mn from restaurants & cafes). I strongly recommend !

This was one of the nicest hotels I have ever been to! Everything is clean and well-maintained. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is unbelievably delicious and huge. If you're in Dushanbe - I highly highly recommend staying here! Additionally, the wifi is super fast.

One of the kindest host I ever met. I arrived at 8:30 am and he let me check in and gave me breakfast. He arranged me shared taxis for reasonable prices. Rooms are clean and cosy. Highly recommended!

I have stayed in many hotels, but Kangurt Hotel has truly exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I stepped into the reception I was greeted by friendly staff who instantly made me feel at home and cared for. Almost everyone speaks multiple languages, which made my stay even more comfortable and easy. As for the room it was simply perfect! Spacious, clean, and with a breathtaking view. Every detail was carefully thought out to ensure guest comfort. I was impressed by the attention to small touches: from the cozy bed to the little design elements that made the atmosphere even more inviting. But the biggest highlight for me was the breakfast! I’ve traveled a lot and stayed in various hotels, but I’ve never had such a delicious and diverse breakfast before. Fresh fruits, aromatic pastries… all of this made my stay truly unforgettable. A special thank you to the staff for their care and attention — they really go above and beyond to make every guest feel special.
