Some of the best trekking routes can be found at Mount Ramelau, Ainaro and Mount Matebian, where you’ll likely encounter some of the 260 bird species on the island. Nino Konis National Park also promises stunning hiking paths as well as prehistoric archaeological sites. Balibo Fort Hotel is a truly unique travel experience, the quality of stay was like nothing else we experienced in Timor Leste. The rooms themselves are modern, very clean and wonderfully decorated, whilst being surrounded by elements of the fort. The pool was an absolute highlight, with wonderful views of the local mountain ranges. The food was excellent, and there is a huge breakfast. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, it was so lovely to see so many young people getting experience in hospitality.
The hotel is in very close proximity to the Australian Flag House/Museum, and there is a wonderfully kept museum onsite at the entrance gateway, with a broader focus on Timor Leste's history.

Very clean accommodation and kind staff. There is a restaurant nearby called "Delicious Timor" serving traditional local cuisine and it is highly recommended. Rooms are super big and include a small living area.

I do not get the mixed reviews. My room was big, with en-suite bathroom and hot shower, with A/C and very fast wifi. The receptionists were fun, friendly and helpful. Walking distance to Dili ferry. I was very positively surprised and would recommend the hotel to everyone looking for a budget accommodation in Dili.
