Located within an 1.2 mi of the Victoria Falls, Ilala Lodge Hotel is a family-run hotel set in expansive gardens. Location is excellent, within easy walking distance of the national park entrance and the Lookout Cafe, which is outside the park and which does not require payment of the daily park fee. The hotel’s grounds are beautiful, with trees flowering in late October. The pool is small, but good for a cooling dip in hot weather. Cape buffalo were grazing right outside our room in the middle of the night.

Located in Victoria Falls, within 3.1 mi of the Victoria Falls Bridge, Victoria Falls Safari Lodge offers 4-star accommodations with a garden, a terrace and a bar. An excellent safari lodge that is expensive but worthwhile. Wildlife at the waterhole was varied and frequent. Although the bar food menu is not large, the quality of the food is excellent. Above all, though, the staff are incredibly efficient, hlepful and welcoming.
